3 months in and I've bought 3 of them because it's a simple but effective water carbonator. This is our first sparkling water maker. After one too many trips to Target for more cases of Waterloo, I found the Philips brand carbonator for a solid entry level price and decided to give it a go. I really wanted the lovely Aarke carbonator, but the price was too high for something we weren't sure we would like. Fortunately, we love the Philips!
It's sleek, stylish, and fairly sturdy considering the plastic build. CO2 cylinders are easy to find at the nearest stores (Wal-Mart, Target, etc). It makes sparkling water easily with one or two pumps of the button. Our first CO2 cylinder lasted a month between two of us using it daily. We've since cut back from two pumps to one per bottle, so I expect the CO2 will last longer.

How can this soda maker achieve a great carbonation effect?
To optimize the carbonating water drinking experience, we would give the following advice:
- Make sure the water bottle and the cylinder are installed properly;
- The water temperature should be below 40 โ. With the recommended temperature, you can enjoy a better taste;
- The carbonating effect will last longer in a sealed bottle. After carbonating, it is better to seal the bottle with a cap.
- We would suggest, after finishing making carbonating water, adding some ice cubes to your glass for a better carbonating water experience.

Same Model Number - Different Bottle Connection Method - Real Swift Move Philips
There are over a half dozen videos in this listing showing simple screw on bottles being used, some with the box including model number in view. Philip's own videos show screw on bottles being screwed on! The ADD4902 is easily distinguishable from the older ADD4901, as it has the second non-functioning aesthetic only disk on the top. I ordered the ADD4902 here, and received a machine with no threads to screw any bottle into, and a bottle with threads and nubs on the side to quarter twist and lock the bottle in. Philips has changed the bottle connection method without changing the model number, the advertising, or even the manual (Online PDF manual too!) included with my machine. This of course is not nearly as bad as their ventilator controversy, just another example that Philips is a company that can't be trusted. I have another screw on bottle machine, an Aarke, and I use an adapter available on Amazon that permits me to use glass bottles (always covered with a mesh bag while carbonating for safety), and the same adapter should fit the Philips, the discontinued (but still available) ADD4901 model that is, and whatever ADD4902 models shipped with screw on bottles (If they ever did). There are also many of us who mod these machines to accept a larger CO2 tank, with Amazon once again supplying the necessary parts. Nobody could figure out how to disassemble the Philips ADD4901, but now someone has demonstrated on a video channel that all you need is a 12 inch screwdriver to reach 3 screws, and the head comes off for simple attachment of an adapter hose. No more cutting holes in the side. Manufacturers want to keep us buying the ridiculously expensive CO2 cartridges, and prevent consumers from installing larger CO2 tanks. It's why Sodastream went to quick connect bottles, and it might be why Philips went to quick lock, to prevent us from using perfectly legal glass bottles (Always use a cover while carbonating). When I called Philips the rep confirmed that the ADD4902 uses lock on bottles (with nubs), not screw on bottles. He informed me the ADD4901 is discontinued, but as I said they are still available, and I ordered a used one for $35 bucks. That's the last money Philips will ever see out of me. What a hassle. Off to Kohls I go to return my Philips Sparkling Water Maker. EDIT: Looking into this further, I learned even the ADD4901 model has units using the quarter turn twist on method, and bottles with nubs. The key seems to be a 'Q" found in the model number, as The "Q" designates the new bottle connedtion method (quarter turn). Thank you reviewer Karen! ADD4902BKOQ uses that method, ADD4902BKO does not, only simple screw on bottles. Unfortunately, this listing advertises the ADD4902BKO, yet ships you the "Q" model, as happened in my case and others. See the pics with model sticker over sticker over sticker. I can't be sure if Amazon played a role in this or not, but at least the return was simple as always. I'm thankful for that.
