Product Description

Double Boiler & Dual PID

For the first time, the Rancilio Silvia is equipped with two boilers; one to heat water for brewing coffee, and another for hot water and steam. Brew more drinks back-to-back without waiting between steaming and brewing, or froth milk while you pull a shot. Larger than previous models, the 1L steam boiler give you professional-grade steaming power to create barista-quality milk foam. Create all your favorites from lattes to cappuccinos to flat whites. The Silvia Pro gives you fine control over water temperature in both boilers via internal PID, offering precise temperature stability and simple adjustment.


Pro Features

The Silvia Pro has a completely redesigned interface for a cleaner user experience. Temperature regulation is easier than ever with the integrated digital display, which displays the brew temperature in real time. Also new to this machine is programmable shot timing. Water level alerts let you know when the water reservoir needs refilled. A programmable wake-up mode ensures your machine is hot and ready when you want it. The built-in 2-liter water tank is easily removed for cleaning. While the Silvia Pro is larger than past models (15.5" depth compared to the 12" deep V5), it still has an impressively small footprint on your countertop considering it's jam-packed with new features.

The order was processed quickly and arrived at my apartment within 2 days. It was well boxed, one box within another box surrounded by styrofoam. After unboxing I set up my Rancilio Silvia Pro x and admired the quality and minimalist design. Then sorrow and heartache hit me. On multiple occasions I tried to brew and use the steamer, however I kept getting error code E03. I tried everything; I unplugged the outlet and waited 30 seconds repeatedly, checked the reservoir to ensure the hoses were immersed. Nothing worked. So saddening and disappointing. I wish I could get an exchange but they do not appear to have anymore in stock.

    This espresso machine is amazing. Don't listen to the reviewers on Amazon saying that they couldn't get good results, this machine is easy to use as far as real espresso machines go.

    An important note to make is this machine cannot be used with tap water like every other high end espresso machine, I highly recommend getting a water distiller and mixing up Dr. Pavlis water (Google for recipe and more info). Using overly hard water will ruin this machines boiler prematurely.

    The first machine I received was faulty, this was a bit frustrating but Seattle Coffee Gear was very fast to make it right and replaced my faulty machine. A truly excellent customer service experience!

    The best pro-sumer machine on the market, in my opinion. If you love espresso and making your own espresso drinks the Sylvia Pro represents the best value for a pro-sumer machine.

    It has 2 boilers, one for espresso and one for steam, so there's no waiting for a single boiler to heat up or cool down. Plus, you can make plain espressos and leave the steam boiler turned off if you want.

    It's a very well-built, heavy-duty machine for serious coffee lovers. If you're a Keurig-type person you'll hate it because it requires some (limited) skill to operate.

    You can individually set the brewing and steaming temperatures to your preference. It also features pre-infusion - you can set it to pre-wet the coffee for 1 to 6 seconds before the pump kicks in.

    You'll also need a high-quality burr grinder to go with the Sylvia Pro to take advantage of its superior quality. In order to pull great shots you need a very consistent grind.

    Previously I had a Gaggia Pro single boiler machine, and it made perfectly acceptable espresso, but you had to either pull the shot first and then wait for the boiler to heat up to steam OR steam the milk first and then purge the boiler to cool it down to pull the espresso shot. The steaming wand on the Sylvia Pro has 4 openings so it steams the milk much faster than the Gaggia Pro, more like a commercial unit.

    This is my second machine after experimenting with a Solis Barista Perfetta and a good grinder. Tha Solis taught me how to tweek doses and experiment. Once you go through this phase, you can really appreciate the simplicity, reliability and consistency of shots with the Rancilio Silvia Pro X. Hitting the 9 bar pressure is easy! While that was my greatest challenge with the Solis. I did invest on a Niche Zero grinder which I would say is equally important. Finally, the dual boiler makes all the difference too.

    I have always been partial to the Rancillo brand. I used to own an espresso stand almost a decade ago and had a nice commercial 2 group head machine and it made great espresso. So for my home machine and have been looking for awhile now. I went with this dual broiler and absolutely love it. It may not have all the bells and whistle’s of other machines but it has everything I need and makes wonderful espresso. I really have enjoyed using it so far even though only have had it for about 2 weeks I’m still very pleased and can see that it’s going to be alittle work horse just like the one in my stand. I did a lot of research before buying this, watched a lot of videos and still found myself wanting this machine and again Rancillo has been around for years, you can’t go wrong with this machine. I may even do a video soon and show how beautiful the shots come out. If you want simple and don’t mind the box look of the machine in which I think looks classy and clean. You’ll absolutely love this machine and won’t regret your purchase.

    My experience maybe unusual but it should be documented. I have had a Pasquini Livia 90 for well over 20 years so not new to home espresso. Unfortunately my workhorse finally died. Iread asll the reviews of the new, latest espresso machines and made my decision. I purchased a Rancilio Silvia Pro X Machine which was an "open box" and looked new when opening the box but did not even manage making a single shot of espresso as the machine kept giving me errors and leaking water from the hot water spout continually. I talked to the support people and was told to send the machine back (50lbs). Burned with the "open box" I decided on a brand new machine which was quickly sent out to me. A brand new fully sealed box, double boxed and in excellent condition. I set up the machine last Thursday 4 days ago. Everything was perfect. Easy to use easy to program, good quality aromatic espresso. I was in heaven! Alas, after making about 10 shots of espresso it is now Monday morning 4 days later. I power up the machine and it gives me an error saying the steam boiler has a problem, too late to mess with it. I go to work and power it up when I return. Same error, pump is running and all of a sudden the countertop is full of water. I called support again and they tell me it's probably the same or similar problem to the first machine and this one needs to be sent back as well. I am told the base Rancilio Silvia is a very reliable machine but that the pro X is new and track record is not well established. So buyer beware.
    Understandably I will not purchase another Rancilio Silvia pro X. I am getting a refund and purchasing a different brand machine.
