Thompson Dallas

Sky-High Stunner

What it is

A jaw-dropping hideaway in a 51-story skyscraper, with 219 Mid Century-inspired rooms, a rooftop pool and bar, and four locally beloved bars and restaurants (including a two Michelin starred chef).

What it isn't

All business. The spa is ready to wow—and complete with infrared saunas, steam showers, after-hours experiences for couples, and ultra-luxe treatments like black diamond facials.

What we think

They don’t call Dallas the Big D for nothing. Everything really is bigger here, including style. Guests live large at Thompson Dallas, thanks to spacious guest rooms (starting at an expansive 390 square feet) that look like scenes from a modern Mad Men with custom walnut and brass headboards, throwback-looking sculptural light fixtures, and bed linens with graphic borders that would help any kingpin get his best night’s sleep ever. The National Suite has a 796 square foot floor plan with its own dining room, living space and a rainshower in the primary bathroom (there’s an extra half bath, too, which is handy if you’re traveling en famille). We particularly love the D.S. & Durga bath amenities, blackout curtains, cozy robes and slippers, and curated minibar of local deliciousness found in every single room—not just the suites.

You're here because

You love a view when you’re on vacay, and this one promises many—including one from a 50th floor sushi restaurant, Kessaku, with an omakase series.

The Moment

Chef Danny Grant earned two Michelin stars at Chicago’s famed RIA, and he’s shining a whole lot of starlight here…especially at wood fired restaurant Monarch. Your dinner tonight? Texas wagyu carpaccio with charred lemon, black truffle, and horseradish cream and filet mignon with trumpet mushrooms and madeira jus.

Restaurants & Bars

Nine at The National - casual dining for breakfast and lunch

Catbird - open for happy hour, dinner, or late-night food and drinks offering classic dishes

Monarch and Kessaku - fine dining concepts by two Michelin-star chef, Danny Grant

Location

Tucked within The National, an iconic 1965 building edging the historic district. Just a few blocks away, The Dallas World Aquarium is one of the best on earth; look for pot-bellied seahorses and blue-dot stingrays.
