A glamorous grande dame revamped for today’s glitterati with a locally inspired spa, six dazzling restaurants and bars (one by a Chef with Michelin experience) and more.

What it isn't

Poorly serviced. Staff will treat you like the VIP you are: they have everything from pillow menus (Memory foam? Down? Bean husk?) to decadent room service options (get the caramelized pork and bánh mì).

What we think

This gleaming and gracious retreat has been a beloved getaway since 1901 for good reason. Guest rooms are nothing less than delicious; even the “starting” option, a Luxury Room, is adorned in French colonial style with marble lined bathrooms, hand-tufted carpets, wood flooring, and Art Deco design details within their cozy 344 square foot floor plans. Our favorite room may well be the 754 square foot Charlie Chaplin Suite—named for the former guest who honeymooned here in 1936, and fitted with a separate living room and private balcony overlooking the leafy treetops of Con Coc park. Another delight: the first floor Somerset Maugham Suite, which has its own private garden and got its moniker from the British writer who penned “The Gentleman in the Parlour” during his 1923 stay here.
