Keswick, Virginia

Keswick Hall

Estate of Bliss

What it is

An ultra luxe 1912 hilltop manor transformed into a pampering resort with a Jean-Georges restaurant, Pete Dye-designed golf course, high-tech spa and exquisite infinity pool overlooking the links.

What it isn't

Old and stuffy. The entire 80-room property was revamped in 2020 and looks as fabulous as ever: traditionally appointed, yet fresh.

What we think

This storied pocket of Virginia is famous for verdant landscapes and timeless architecture (Monticello is still turning heads, more than two centuries after Thomas Jefferson designed it at age 26). But even amid so much aesthetic beauty, Keswick Hall is an absolute jaw-dropper. Set on 600 lush acres, the former villa has been reborn as the ultimate luxury getaway, from its European red clay tennis courts to its daybed-flanked, T-shaped infinity pool that appears to float over the adjacent rolling hills. Guest rooms are sumptuous and large (starting at 420 square feet) and fitted with King sized, Swedish-made Duxiana mattresses, spa-like bathrooms sheathed in Arabescato marble, and other indulgences, including an in-room mini fridge and Red Flower toiletries. We particularly love the Deluxe King with Balcony or Terrace for its al fresco space, and the 1,590 square foot Presidential Suite complete with a flickering fireplace in its grand living and dining room.

You're here because

Former guests have reportedly included everyone from Margaret Thatcher to Mick Jagger.

The Moment

After your hydrafacial with LED light therapy, your skin looks as dewy as the grass on the golf course this morning—and just as garden-fresh. There’s only one thing you can think of to improve this day, and that’s dinner by the stone fireplace at Marigold by Jean-Georges. Your order? Parmesan risotto with maitake mushrooms and black truffles, and champagne mousse for dessert.
