Santorini, Greece
Mystique
A Luxury Collection Hotel
What it is
A stylish collection of cloistered bungalows where traditional Greek Isle architecture blends with contemporary nature-inspired design.
What it isn't
The Greek isles are known for their party scene; Mystique is in a fine spot to take advantage of the scene, but it’s not playing host.
What we think
Built in 2007, the complex of classic low-lying, flat-roofed, soft ochre bungalows spills down Oia’s famous cliffside toward Santorini's Caldera. The 41 open-plan, cave-style suites and villas are organically shaped with soft, curved edges and built-in seating, carved out niches and open windows. Headboards, floor lamps and mirrors are constructed out of strips of reclaimed driftwood, the floor is local limestone and in lieu of the standard bright white glare of many Greek hotels, Mystique opts for a softer, more natural hue. Reserved for hotel guests only, the hotel's restaurant, Charisma, serves upscale, classic Greek fare out on the terrace or inside the dining room. There are multiple other dining options: poolside, in-room or at one of the bars on-site as well as a spectacular wine cellar that's been carved out of the rock face and boasts both space to entertain private parties as well as a vast collection of rare and local wines. Down the cliffside, the Elios Spa offers everything from facials and massages to vegan skincare and body slimming treatments.
You're here because
You're looking for something that lives up to the island's charm, but doesn't feel like a relic from the past.
The Moment
Leaning back on the soft lounge chair, chilled glass of white in hand and meze platter in reach on the low wooden table, the lip of the infinity pool is acting as a clear border between the turquoise water and the navy Aegean.

Location
On the north end of Santorini, perched on the famous cliffside that faces south toward Santorini’s volcano. The hotel is isolated on the cliff face, but it's just a ten to fifteen minute stroll to Oia's art galleries and restaurants. It’s just shy of a half-hour drive to the international airport.
