What we think

There are two wings to choose from here—each just as dazzling as the other. In the Krungthep Wing, rooms are equipped with private verandas, generous 473 square foot-and-up floor plans, and Thai-inspired interiors with luxe Western touches (note the glimmering crystal chandeliers). In the adjacent 25-story Shangri-La Wing, interiors are slightly more modern and sleek; the starting category, a Shangri-La Wing Deluxe Room, begins at 386 square feet and includes a window seat, plus a rain shower and separate tub in the bathroom. Our favorite room here is the 775 square foot Shangri-La Wing Executive River View Suite for its adjacent living space and access to the Horizon Club lounge, where a gratis breakfast and evening cocktails and canapés await.
