Singita Sweni Lodge
Private Safari Splendor
What it is
An all-inclusive lodge set within a 33,000-acre private concession on the Sweni River.
What it isn't
Expansive. Sure, you’ve got plenty of room to roam, but there are only 7 suites here (read: you’re about to be pampered with extremely personalized service).
What we think
The area around Sweni Lodge is known for its large prides of lion, making it a Disney movie sprung to resplendent life. And is it any wonder they come here, to this protected, free-range expanse of pristine land? You’ll likely spot them and other equally charming creatures (white rhinos, cheetahs, leopards and elephants) on your morning and evening game drives in Singita’s six-guest Land Rovers before returning to your over-the-top suite. Here, architecture inspired by the wings of local birds (literally) makes a solace-filled retreat, presciently stocked with al fresco showers overlooking the river and day beds on your private game-viewing—and starry-sky viewing—deck.
You're here because
Thanks to Instagram, you’re rapidly becoming a massive photography geek, and the lodge has its own fleet of professional cameras they’ll loan you.
The Moment
After a morning game drive, you’re spent, and in need of some serious TLC. Thankfully, the Singita spa awaits, ready to ply you with locally made Terres d’Afrique products. Today’s treatment of choice? The Sun-Kissed Journey, a cooling body-mask and massage designed to bring your sun-tired body back to earth.
Location
A 45-minute drive from Satara airstrip, which is about an hour and a half flight from Jo’Burg. (And yes, Singita staff will arrange your transfers).
