W South Beach

Sleek and chic on the beach

What it is

A cutting-edge oasis in the heart of the Magic City.

What it isn't

An intimate Art Deco boutique hotel.

What we think

Oceanfront? Contemporary and cool? Stunningly sophisticated? Check, check, check. At 350 studios and suites, W South Beach may be one of the largest hotels on South Beach (and notably, not an original Art Deco structure) but that means, unlike its historic but somewhat cramped neighbors, the W has plenty of room, with expansive balconies angled toward the ocean and abundant public spaces. The lobby—known as the Living Room—has thoughtfully clustered seating arrangements interspersed with impressive artwork (an Andy Warhol here, a Basquiat there). Restaurant options include celebrity favorite, Mr Chow, and roots-inspired American concept, RWSB (The Restaurant at W South Beach); there's also a great gym (FIT) as well as WET®, the huge pool area with private cabanas for rent. There are even basketball and tennis courts that are adorably referred to as SWISH and SWING. The beachfront stunner just opened AWAY Spa at W South Beach, a 9,540-square-foot luxury wellness and beauty sanctuary on the fourth floor of the hotel. Book a treatment and look forward to the gorgeous outdoor basking terrace and the eucalyptus-infused limestone steam showers. The hotel's studios and suites feel upscale, with white porcelain floors, two flat-screen TVs, super high ceilings and big bathrooms with jet showers. We love the solid sound system, the rock & roll photographs by Danny Clinch and the kitchenettes complete with microwave. There's an array of suites with rock-star amenities (outdoor plunge pools, full kitchens). In fact, many of them are booked by rock stars. It's that kind of hotel.

You're here because

You want an inspired South Beach fun-in-the-sun scene, but you prefer a room that won't have you tripping over the suitcases.

The Moment

Walking through the door of your room, you're taken aback by the generous size and chic black-and-white decor. The white wood-grained floors lead right out onto the large balcony, its glass railing seemingly all that separates you from the blue sky and crashing ocean beyond.
