Nob Hill, San Francisco

Fairmont San Francisco

A refined palace atop Nob Hill

What it is

One of the city’s finest grande dames with a stellar location, and even better views, from its Nob Hill location.

What it isn't

For those that want to be immersed in San Francisco’s nightlife with the young locals.

What we think

With historic roots dating back to the 19th century, the Fairmont San Francisco is one of the city’s oldest Grande Dames. Staying true to its roots, the hotel’s public spaces are characterized by a style of classic elegance. Namely, the lobby is a showcase of marble colonnades, tufted furniture and carved ceilings. A renovation to the 592 rooms and suites has brought a more contemporary look, though equally as elegant, to the rest of the hotel. Rooms in the longstanding main building have more of a historic feel, but rooms in the newer tower have greater views of the area. Truly, there is no wrong choice here. When you’re ready to explore the city, the hotel is in a prime location atop Nob Hill. Being next to the only spot in the city where each of the cable car lines meet, guests will have seamless access to all of the city’s top neighborhoods. At the end of the day, make sure to stop by the hotel’s Hurricane bar for a signature Mai Tai, known as one of the best in the city.
