Just prior to the COVID-19 crisis, Breadtopia moved to a new facility and now, due to health safety concerns, all organic certification inspections have been put on hold in our area. Our prior facility was certified organic and our new one will be as soon as inspections begin again. Until that time, know that we are still sourcing exactly the same certified organic grains from the same producers we always have, and we are packaging and milling with the same procedures we have always used. We just can’t call it “certified organic” until we can get our new facility inspected and certified.

Yellow Dent Corn

These are whole unmilled corn kernels. Grown for humans vs. animal feed.

Dent corn, also known as field corn, gets its name from the indentation on each side of the kernel.

Store bought corn flour doesn’t compare to milling your own. Commercially milled flour is lacking the high fiber outer skin and the nutritious inner germ.

Home milled corn meal and flour also produces a superior tasting product. Mill your own for wonderful corn bread, tortillas and more.

    Really fun grain to experiment with! I’ve ground dent corn as a 1:1 replacement on cornmeal for corn bread, fried in a batter to make “hoe cakes” from old settler recipes, and made a breakfast mush by just boiling it. All I’ve tried have left cornmeal in the dust and leaves a satisfying fullness that I hadn’t expected. The grain is sweet enough to not need extra sugar, which makes sense considering where corn syrup comes. Before breadtopia offered this I had to scour amazon to find human grade corn to play with, thanks breadtopia for staying my one stop shop!
