From the Manufacturer

Product Overview

Silent Hill Re-Mastered Collection combines two classic spine-chilling Silent Hill titles from the past and brings them to the Xbox 360. Introducing Silent Hill 2 and Silent Hill 3 with enhancements including true high-definition graphics, this offering gives new fans and old fans the opportunity to experience the early era of Silent Hill as a true genre-defining experience with the added value of two games.

Silent Hill 2 follows the sad story of James Sunderland as he woefully enters the sleepy town by a mysterious letter from his deceased wife. Seeking the chance to see her again beckoned by guilt and remorse, he stumbles upon his fears manifested through unseen evil and ominous characters leading him to the asylum of another world. The fight against the truth that his wife has died, James must escape the lumbering demon Red Pyramid (a.k.a Pyramid Head) along with his mystified fears that have taken the form of living monsters within the haze that is Silent Hill.

Serving as a sequel to the original Silent Hill game, Silent Hill 3 centers on the forces of the demonic cult that spreads the insanity of the otherworld through Claudia, a cult member attempting to bring Harry Mason’s daughter, Heather, into Silent Hill. With a subplot and themes involving the loss of innocence and childhood, a web of intrigue is spun by Claudia with intentions to birth a new god.

I first discovered Silent Hill one day when I was on YouTube and somehow stumbled upon a few songs from the Soundtrack, I can't remember if it was "Tears of Pain..." or "Never Forgive Me, Never Forget Me", but I suppose it doesn't matter now. Anyways, the first game I played was "Silent Hill: Downpour", which I suppose wasn't a letdown, but also wasn't that good, it was just so-so. So when I found out that there was an HD Collection containing Silent Hill 2 and Silent Hill 3, I knew I had to buy it. I don't currently own a Play Station (any of the models) although I did have one awhile back, but that is long gone, so getting the HD Collection for the Xbox 360 seemed way more budget friendly than investing in a new system, and games.

I know a lot of people complain about the game being glitchy, and buggy but I've owned this game for almost two years now, and I have not experienced any of the problems that other people in the reviews and comments have faced.I admit that reading some of the comments made me nervous to buy the game, but I still bought it, and decided that if it was buggy or glitchy, I would cut my losses and just toss the game. But I have never heard any audio problems, or seen the game glitch in any way where I am seeing unfinished landscapes or backgrounds, and neither have I experienced the voice audios being off from the games graphics. The resolution is perfect for my TV, and does not look pixilated, blurry, or distorted. I'm actually wondering if many of the bad reviews left on the game are from Die-Hard original fans, who refuse to give the HD collection a chance, however, just because I haven't had a bad experience with this game yet, doesn't mean maybe someone else didn't.

I read one review where the person stated that you cannot choose from the new voice recordings or the old ones, and that is false, well at least half-false. In Silent Hill 2 you can choose from the original voice actors or the new voice actors. I've only ever played it with the original voice actors, so that it adds to the effect. However, in Silent Hill 3, it does not give you the option to pick, and only has the new voice actors.

As for the actual game play, I love it. It takes awhile to get used to the controls for the game, but when you have them down, it's a breeze. I find that the puzzles in the games are fun to solve, and at times a bit challenging which just adds to the game for me. The monsters are quite creepy, and at times, downright grotesque. All of this weaved together with the storylines creates an ambient game unlike any other. The characters, along with their struggles and story, soon become unforgettable.

Just please be assured, this game is bloody, gory, and definitely NOT FOR KIDS!!!

If you loved the Silent Hill series or are a huge fan of the classic survival horror games, you're going to love the Silent Hill remakes. The crisp graphics make the town come alive better than ever. Silent Hill 2 is one of (if not the) best game in the series and it's great that it has been treated so well in this remake. The rerecorded dialogue also makes the games more engrossing and fun, it's great that Konami took the time to do that.

I wouldn't say there are any true cons but more of a barrier to entry for gamers new to the series - and that would be the controls. If you haven't played the original Resident Evil (or Silent Hill) games you're going to be in for a bit of a shock when you play these. It's the classic tank controls where you spin then move. It was always kind of weird but when that's all there was, well, you dealt with it. Luckily they've included an option where the character will move in the direction the control is pointed. I highly suggest this if you're not going to go for the true classic feel.

Also, Silent Hill 2 includes the original dialogue as well, so you can really see the work that Konami has put into the game. I've always been a huge Silent Hill fan and the oppressive fog of the game plays off the great new textures very well. Two great games for this price? Give it a shot!

i’ve been wanting to play the original silent hill games as long as i can remember, and ive never been able to with them being literally no where or $200 a game for ps2 so buying this was my only option. I am currently half way through the third game and it works amazing, i was skeptical to buy it with what i’ve heard about the hd collection but i have seen no problems whatsoever. The gameplay is amazing, the quality and aesthetic of the game looks amazing and im so happy i bought this. The only thing i didn't like about the third game is that they didn’t have the original voices but it doesn't bother me. The good thing about the second game is that before you even start playing it, you can choose old or new voices.

ok first off this is my first time playing silent hill 2/3. The only one iv played before the series was homecoming and because of that i wanted to play the past games. and its not the best hd collection but its still what brung the series to what it is. i noticed alot of glitches in 2 not alot in 3 but get pass the fact there still 2 amazing games and will scare the living crap out of you haha. and they still have all the amazing things in the game as before. iv already beat both in the collection and im going around the silent hill town agian because theres so many things to collect and with the fog as everyones saying? its really not that bad you still cant see whats infront of you on 2? so whats the problem? i dont think its as buggy as everyones saying. id recomend this collection to anyone in for a good scare so stop complaining and play it if you own it.
