Do I have to choose from a library of phrases or can I use my own phrases?

SpeakerHub "speaks" in two ways: The most common is you type the message out in advance, SpeakerHub reads it out using text-to-speech. You can also upload an MP3 file, and this file could include spoken words, in another language, for example.

Will it work without internet or WiFi?

The SpeakHub does require an internet connection. It uses a 2.4 GHz WiFi connection, only (not ethernet/wired). It will not work without an internet connection.

I have a hub now. If I get this, do I need to do anything, or replace my current hub? Is it OK to mix & match hubs?

You do not need to do anything with your existing devices, and you can mix and match as many hubs as you want!

I heard a review the SpeakerHub is not loud enough?

Well, "loud enough" is subjective, but it's important to know, this is not meant to be a security siren or a loudspeaker. It's closer in volume to an Echo Dot. It works great if you are in the same room. You may not hear it from another floor.

Can I power this from 220V?

The SpeakerHub is actually USB-powered, so, as long as you have the appropriate plug-in USB adapter, you can power it from 220 or 480V!

My only complaint is the power plug sticks out, would prefer it underneath /hidden. Also there's no way to mount the speaker. I have it zip tied under my entry table. Would prefer to mount it on the wall or underneath the table.

Constantly exceeding my expectations. I own a lot of Yolink hardware and am deep into Home Automation with Home Assistant. All work seamlessly. After using a lot of the devices for a long time, I had one failure. The App on my phone let me know there was an issue. Therefore, the system (includes all of the components) are monitored for health. A rare and complete level of Systems Engineering. On the one failure, I emailed Yolink with the results of the very simple and straight forward troubleshooting. Boom. They were sending me a replacement in minutes. Absolutely outstanding. I have not seen a company at this level in a while. It brings tears of joy to my eyes to find a company like this one. I can only hope that other companies take notes and follow this outstanding example.

I've got probably $500 worth of YoLink in my home. It started with a leak detector and hub. Then another, and another until I had every source of water in my house protected. Then the holy grail; the automatic valve that shuts off the water to the house entirely.

So since this system is so easy to set up, so easy to program, so easy to configure, I had to have more. Motion detectors around the house, including the mailbox, so I had to get this speaker hub to announce, "Mail's here!"

Don't get me wrong, there were a couple of moments when things just didn't seem right. Then I keep looking and find the solution. There was one occasion where I was absolutely stumped. I called tech support and the response was nothing short of great, by a knowledgeable tech, and the problem was solved in five minutes!

If this company built a flying car, I would buy it, site unseen!

There is a lot of potential with Yolink as an ecosystem. My issue is the absolute randomness of programming and setting names that mean nothing outside of this system. Scenes? Automation? Alarms? Buried settings?? None of this has much common sense to it. I've been trying to assign a simple motion sensor as an alarm that I can enable and disable via a Yolink fob. Nearly impossible for me via the app. The feature set is cool in theory. But man o man. Maybe make some guides for people and skip all the lingo? Just simple examples?? Or is the system so esoteric that it's not possible? If you need a 10 page .pdf for a simple motion alarm strategy then you failed as a systems designer/programmer imo.

I make really good money as a tech (industrial controls engineering), years of PLC and DCS/HMI programming and can figure most things out- these are intuitive things, Yolink is not. I've read numerous guides and watched videos etc... It doesn't help. I feel there is a translation error and if I could read Chinese perhaps the native Chinese instructions actually make sense??

This entire system is a jack of all trades wannabe and it fails at being a really good "out of the box" solution unless you forget all things you know about alarm systems (like the ELK M1 which is a gold standard) in order and learn this specific nomenclature. "Scenes"? I don't need a scene or an "automation". That's for the home automation people obsessed with flipping on a stupid light bulb like the X-10 nerds from the 80s. No. I need an alarm tab that just alarms- (If motion then alarm if alarm is active). A simple enable and disable. But I seem to have to configure 4-5 things to accomplish 1 task? Perhaps this is a feature? But I see it as a design/programming flaw. You can't really mash all these features together and expect it to make any sense.

Likely all my Yolink devices sans a camera will end up in the trash soon and I'll just pick up a purpose built alarm system. I just have no interest in learning yet another propriety way to program. Standardize this stuff people. It's not that tough!
