- Probe-Style Alarm Thermometer

- Big digits are seen from a distance
- Now includes a backlight
- Designed in Utah by ThermoWorks
DOT is engineered to do one thing really well. Set your target temperature with the up or down buttons, insert the probe in your food, and DOT beeps when it gets there. Simple as that. Hit any button and the beeping stops. The display still flashes till your temperature drops below the setpoint. DOT uses any of the Pro-Series probes designed for our popular ChefAlarm. The included 4.5-inch probe reads temperatures up to 572°F with a cable that withstands 700°F. Designed for commercial food service, DOT beats houseware brands for intuitive usability and survivability.
DOT is designed to track temperatures over an extended period of time with moderate-heat cooking methods such as smoking, oven-roasting, deep-frying, homebrewing, and Sous Vide and to be used while grilling. DOT is not meant to be used in place of a digital instant-read thermometer, such as a Thermapen ONE or a ThermoPop, or used with broiling.
Only two buttons to learn - Up and Down! No complicated programming, no flashing piggies, chickens or cows. Made for people who know what they're doing in the kitchen and who don't want to get bogged down in gadgetry or hemmed-in by someone else's "pre-programmed doneness". Set your own temperatures, faster than anything out there. When the alarm sounds, if you want you can add a few degrees just by tapping the Up button.
Use DOT for Sous Vide, roasting, baking, smoking, breads, pastries, candy making, home brewing and lots more. The included 4" probe can be used for hundreds of things but versatility is expanded with our optional Pro-Series probes. If you're international or uber-scientific, change from Fahrenheit to Celsius using the On/Off button on the rear.
DOT is a professional tool designed for commercial use. Molded-in, splash-proof seals and commercial grade plastic body survive messy kitchen hands. Includes a tilt-out stand for counter use and strong magnets for metal surfaces. Pro-Series probes last much longer than houseware probes.
Each of our three children will be receiving their DOT Probe Thermometer. I hope their experience is as good as mine.

SO EASY
I use them all the time.
I like mine so much that I purchased this one as a gift
DOT is very easy to use. The only problem I have is keeping the metal cable from touching the oven grate when I open the oven door to add or remove food. It is a one-handed operation with one hand holding the cable and one handling the food.
When using the DOT, you insert the probe into the meat and the attach the other end of the probe's cable to the thermometer, which you'll place on the counter outside of the oven. The probe's cable is so small that it does not affect the seal of the oven. This is how DOT was designed to be used.
Yes. You can switch the probes. Unplug one and plug in the next. The DOT will quickly display the current temperature at the new probe tip.
No, you do not need a grate clip to use DOT in the oven when you are cooking. If you decide that you would like to use DOT to monitor the temperature of the oven itself (to see if your oven is accurate), we would recommend an Air Probe, which comes with a grate clip.
Yes, it can.
DOT is unable to monitor cooling temperatures as it just includes a high alarm. This means that if you set the alarm to 120°, your DOT will alarm as soon as the temperature rises to 120°. You'll need a thermometer that includes a low alarm.
The ChefAlarm, BlueDOT, Smoke, Smoke X, and Signals are all great choices as they all have high alarms and low alarms.
How long is the probe cable?
The probe's cable is 47" long. Yes, DOT will stick to vertical surfaces such as an oven door. Do not stick DOT to surfaces that will exceed 122°F, as this will melt DOT's plastic housing.
Yes, it will. The probe's cable can withstand all temperatures up to 700°F. Just make sure that you keep the probe's cable away from heating elements, flames, coals, grills, or oven racks—all of which can reach temperatures far higher than 700°F (even if an oven is set lower).
Water Resistant vs Waterproof
While most of the Pro-Series probes are water-resistant, they are not waterproof. Water-resistant items are able to resist water penetration to some degree. Waterproof items can’t be penetrated by water. This is why we say that Pro-Series probes (other than the Pro-Series® Waterproof Needle Probe, which is waterproof) should not be submerged.

When using the DOT Oven Alarm Thermometer with my Oster Electric Roaster for the first time, I found that the cable did interfere with the ability of the lid to tightly close. I solved this by cutting a tiny notch in a corner of the lid’s lip and passing the thin, flexible metal cable through it. The lid could then be closed tightly as usual, without loss of heat. My DOT performed is function perfectly, per Thermoworks specifications, and the cable is sturdy and well-insulated.
I couldn’t be more pleased with my purchase! CAROL H
DOT is splash-proof, rather than waterproof. If significant rain is a danger, it would be best to cover it in some way. Many customers have found that putting the thermometer in a zippered plastic bag or plastic container works well.
