Yaukueve Levu Island, Fiji

Kokomo Island Resort

Private Island Paradise

What it is

An ultra-luxe 26 villa retreat on a reef-encircled atoll with a jaw-dropping activities list.

What it isn't

Wasteful. Given it’s middle-of-the-ocean locale, Kokomo puts a staunch focus on sustainability, to the point of hiring a resident marine biologist.

What we think

When honeymooners across the globe picture their dreamiest possible post-nuptial vacation, they likely conjure a place exactly like Kokomo. But why should newlyweds have all the fun? Fiji-inspired villas have soaring ceilings, private terraces complete with infinity pools and outdoor showers, and (phew!) air conditioning. And sure, you’ll have WiFi and IPTVs, but our guess is you won’t want to use it—not when the on-site activities include fishing for Mackerel and Wahoo at the nearby Great Astrolabe Reef, diving to spot blue ribbon eels and nudibranchs in little-known reefs, and sailing—while sipping note-perfect cocktails—at sunset.

You're here because

Unsurprisingly, Kokomo is home to a notable holistic spa; surprisingly, they’ve hired a resident health practitioner and visiting acupuncturist and rolfing specialist to ensure you leave feeling tip-top.

The Moment

The moment you spotted the resort’s 5.5 acre organic farm and hydroponic garden, you knew you were in for edible delights. But you had no idea their dining options—like the “Beach Shack,” which is more of a glammed-up thatched roofed terrace worthy of a Middleton on the lam—would satisfy you just as well. On your plate tonight? The freshest possible sashimi, caught this morning as part of their Dock to Dish program–and absolutely the best you’ve ever had.

Restaurants & Bars

- Beach Shack - The perfect place to watch the sunset while sipping a cocktail, before indulging in a delectable dining experience.

- Walker D'Plank- Serving casual Asian-inspired street food with ocean views

- Kokocabana - Open for refreshments such as smoothies, wood-fired pizzas, wine and more

Location

A 45-minute flight via twin-otter seaplane (or, if you prefer, helicopter) from Nadi International Airport, arranged by the property, of course. In other words? Smack dab in the middle of heaven.
