Wool rug with loop pile detail

  • 100% wool with cotton canvas backing
    • You may find traces of dried hay, grass, or straw in your rug as grazing sheep often collect plant matter in their coats. Remove gently by hand or with tweezers.
    • Authentic wool fibers were used to weave this rug. Please note that when wool gets damp, it will smell like a wet sheep. This is the scent of lanolin, which acts as a waxy barrier against dirt and moisture.
  • Medium pile: approximately .39" thick (10 mm)
  • Color palette: lime green, chartreuse, warm vanilla beige, inky black
  • 6'x 6' square
  • Due to its handmade nature a 5% variance in size, color and texture is to be expected.

The Collection

Amanda Jane Jones x Revival was born because we were such big fans of Amanda's work, on the page and in her home. After we supplied her new house with some Hart rugs, we approached her about designing her own pieces for us. That was the prompt: what kind of rugs would you like to have in your house? From there, our design team worked out the weaves and textures that would most effectively translate her designs from paper collage to her floors!

The Design

The fruity half of this collection has a cozy hand-tufted construction. The apple is done with a looped technique which makes it slightly raised, a sweet detail that's reminiscent of needlepoint. Its green yarn is space dyed for a subtle, brindled color variation.

The Material

Unparalleled for centuries, wool has a hydrophobic layer which repels dust and dirt, as well as lanolin, which provides its trademark luster and protects the fiber from breaking or shedding. To create the apple's dappled highs and lows, we space-dyed the fiber in small batches. This process achieves a watercolor effect, adding depth of color. The dye we use is low-impact, which means no heavy metals and less greywater. It's then hand-tufted onto a cotton canvas backing for stability.

The Maker

Our partner has been weaving for 50 years, inheriting the business from his father. Some of the weavers have been there for that long, too. Devoted equally to treating workers well and developing quality products, they're also Good Weave certified, which guarantees high quality and trustworthiness across the board.

The Designer

Our in-house, all-star design team collaborates across three different countries. Based in Los Angeles, Istanbul, and Mumbai, they put a lot of thought into each and every collection they design. Starting with the weave itself, they determine material and technique, then create moodboards to capture the look and feel before starting to design. When designs are finalized, they conduct an extensive sampling process, perfecting each style and color before it goes to production.

  • Vacuum on low power with a non-rotary (no spinning brush) vacuum or suction attachment only.
  • Due to the hand-crafted nature of our rugs, you can expect to see light shedding, matting, and signs of fiber and thread breakage over time. For high traffic areas, these effects may occur more quickly and easily.
  • Rotate your rug on occasion to ensure even wear over time. Keep away from excessive moisture.
  • Do not dry clean or steam clean.
  • Spot cleaning instructions:
    • Lightly dampen a paper towel or cloth with clean water
    • Gently blot the affected area with your damp towel or cloth to dilute the stain
    • If the stain persists, try using an unscented, citrus-free, clear soap to avoid bleaching the textile.
    • Repeat this process until the stain is removed

Amanda Jane Jones x Revival

Amanda Jane Jones x Revival was born because we were such big fans of Amanda’s work, on the page and in her home. Amanda is a graphic designer, art director, illustrator, children’s book author, print designer, mom—and one of the nicest people we’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting. She also has a serious knack for interior design, which made her a dream collaborator on this project. She designed a 4-piece collection for us, combining two of our favorite things: snacks and stripes.
