Cocaine & Rhinestones: The History of Country Music

Step right up. Come on in.
Absolutely Fantastic

A great deep dive into country music. Many times it demystifies the genre and relates it back to the workings of the industry. I love how much of it puts focus on the songwriters, an essential component especially to the nature of country music itself.
Theoretically Incredible

Guy sounds like a newscaster with a TBI. Completely unlistenable. Why in the world would you decide that's a way that you should speak
The best.

This is simply the most well put together piece of country music history audio that I have ever heard. And I’ve been digging all my life. I wish I had found it back when it was active. I’d have signed up to be a patron!
Excellent podcast!

I’m not even a country fan but I listened to both seasons and I will play them again. Looking forward to season 3
great entertainment - good research

Bobbie Gentry deep dive as ep. 3 really seals my opinion that this is worthy as a good piece of media. I should listen to more, but this has a similar vibe to Andrew Hickey’s 500 Songs podcast. I added it to my podcast line up immediately.
Excellent

Stumbled upon this podcast while searching for a song “Harper Valley PTA”. Weeks later I have listened to every episode, and now I have a new appreciation of everything country music. Informative, entertaining, and authentic, you can’t do better than TMC.
Great insight and stories!

I love this podcast - it reminds me of you must remember this but about country music instead of Hollywood. If you have even a passing interest in country music give it a chance!
This must be the place.

Love this pod. Interesting, funny, freaky, and inclusive of all my heroes… and then some.
Late…but not too late

Where have I been? I am totally late to this amazing podcast and started when Andrew was on episode 170 or so. I had read his LA book, but not a clue about this comprehensive and entertaining history. I am catching up quickly listening to 5 or 6 episodes a week. Which is actually a good way to keep the connections going between shows. If you are into popular music at all, listen to Andrew.
Huh?

What does the Louisiana Purchase and Buffalo Bill have to do with George Jones or Tammy Wynette in the first episode?!?!? And why do u sound like a robot when you talk?? Almost unlistenable. I hope the next episode is better….
