My daughter and I went on the France trip and I’ll treasure the memory of all the adventures this trip provided for the rest of my life. As the person who is usually the travel planner, to be able to show up and have all the work done for me was such a treat. The experiences we had were unique, interesting and enjoyable and clearly not opportunities we would have had on our own.
— Denise S.
It was such an invigorating and reviving trip, to say the least. Every single woman entrepreneur we met on the trip was joyful and welcoming and greeted our group with open arms. Not only did I leave with amazing travel memories, but I also left with new friends. Thank you, Wild Terrains!
— Michaela T.

France ITINERARY

DAY ONE - PARIS

Bonjour, la femme sauvage! Fancy meeting you in the City of Light. We’ll meet at our stunning Parisian home - Julia Vidalenc’s Hotel Le Ballu - where you’ll get to know your amazing Trip Leader, Paula De Almeida, and your fellow travelers over a delicious lunch! In the afternoon, we’re exploring the art galleries of the Le Marais neighborhood with art expert Alexandra Weinress of The Seen Paris.

The evening is yours to sleep off your jet lag or hit the town!

Meals included: lunch, champagne + snacks

DAY TWO - PARIS

Make room in your suitcase, because we’re going shopping. This morning we’re exploring the often-overlooked neighborhood of La Goutte d’Or with Jacqueline NGO MPII, founder of Little Africa Paris. We’ll take a closer look at the history of African immigration to France and connect the dots between traditional African textiles and French fashion.

In the afternoon, we’re visiting two of our favorite shops for French threads. You’ll stock up on gorgeous hand-blocked textiles at Usha Bora’s Jamini. Next, you’ll scour the racks at our favorite vintage shop for timeless Parisian style.

We’ve got dinner reservations at Ruba Khoury’s Dirty Lemon, one of Paris’s coolest cocktail dens.

Meals included: breakfast, dinner

DAY THREE - PARIS

We’re spending the morning with activist Julie Marangé on a feminist walking tour, where you’ll learn about many of the famous women who have marked French history.

The afternoon is yours to explore Paris your own way (with some suggested routes from us, of course!). Hit up the Louvre or Musée d'Orsay. Search the flea markets for something special. The day is yours. Spend it however you like. You deserve it.

Meals included: breakfast

DAY FOUR - PROVENCE

Repack your bags! We’re hopping on the elegant TGV for a quick train ride through the French countryside. Next stop: Provence. Michelle Obama-approved chef Séverine Sagnet is taking over the gardens of Abbey Saint-André just for us! Between bites you’ll have free roam of this ancient property and views of the charming city of Avignon just across the river.

After a leisurely lunch, we’re heading to Lorène Martel’s Château de Fonscolombe, our home for the next few days. The evening is yours to explore the property, enjoy a glass of wine under the ancient cedar tree, and get used to that chateau life.

Meals included: breakfast, lunch

DAY FIVE - PROVENCE

You’ll have time for a morning stroll or a dip in the pool, before we head to a gorgeous lunch in the charming city of Nîmes with Michelin Star chef Georgiana Viou. She’s cooking whatever she’s in the mood for, taking inspiration from both her Beninese roots and her love of French food.

The afternoon brings us to another charming Provençal city - Arles - famously depicted in numerous Van Gogh paintings. We’ll stroll the streets of the old city and end the day with a glass of wine in the gardens of a super cute, women-owned wine bar.

Meals included: breakfast, lunch

DAY SIX - PROVENCE

After a delicious breakfast in the chateau gardens, we’re making our way to the private studio of silk-dye artist Aurore Pelisson. She’ll teach us how to design and hand-dye our very own silk scarf - the perfect accessory to take home.

In the afternoon, we’re paying a visit to winemaker Phanette Double at her gorgeous winery Château de Beaupré for a private tasting of her wine collection, before heading back to the hotel for our final group dinner.

Meals included: breakfast, lunch, dinner

DAY SEVEN - PROVENCE

After a scrumptious last breakfast, we’ll travel as a group to the Marseille Provence Airport (MRS), where we’ll hug and say au revoir! It’s sadly time to go home.

Meals included: breakfast

BEST TIME OF YEAR
TO VISIT

Every season in France is one to remember. We like to stick to the gorgeous “shoulder seasons” to miss summer crowds. In other words, spring (May-June) and fall (September-November).

WEATHER

Central France is temperate in the spring and summer, and wonderfully chilly (perfect for cozy sweaters) in the fall and winter. The French Riviera has a beautiful Mediterranean climate year-round. Spring and fall tend to be mild, while summers can be very hot.
