The Rocky Talkie Mountain Radio is our award winning license-free radio designed and tested in the Colorado Rockies. Created with climbers and skiers in mind, the compact radio is suited for any rugged adventure where communication is critical.
A specialized lithium-ion battery provides over 4 days of battery life, even in very cold conditions (-20°F). For enhanced durability, the radio has a shatterproof LED screen and thermoplastic protective covering. Unlike the fragile plastic clips of other radios, the Mountain Radio easily secures to backpacks and harnesses using an ultra-light carabiner and back-up leash.
The radio transmits the maximum power legally allowed for use without a license (2-watts). The max range is over 35 miles, however, 1 to 5 miles is more typical in backcountry terrain. For more info on range, please see our range testing video or blog post.
The Mountain Radio is ready to use out of the box and requires zero configuration. The electronics are simple and reliable - the radio has 5 buttons that are easy to understand while still supporting the critical advanced features (such as privacy codes to prevent outside interference).

Easy, practical and fun
Wearing the Mountain Radio, on your ski backpack allows immediate communication with your ski partner. This radio provides extra safety, specially when weather conditions are rough. No need to pull out your cel phone, dial, be uncertain about coverage. In addition, it has a very cool design.
Great Product
The Rocky Talkie made multipitch climbing 10x easier for me and my friends. I am never going to multipitch without them again!
Solid performer, great audio and battery life
What is it with other radio makers and their inability to do what Rocky Talkie does? Fantastic product, great audio, long battery life, useful accessories and ease of use! This is designed for folks who do real outdoor adventures and might not coddle their equipment. It will handle your adventure and your communication needs. Now I've got both the Mountain Radio and the 5 Watt. Great job RT! I'm ready for your next fantastically designed product!

Great in other applications.
I am a former Alps, Ben Nevis, Africa, Himalayas climber, a Scott no less. We love your Rocky Talkies, they hold power. We have a farm situation now (66 years old!) and we need to communicate constantly. The other **** we had would run out of power every day,. By the way my buddy Asti and I have the first night assent of the Diamond Couloir on Mount Kenya. In the books at Naro Moru River lodge. Keep making good **** for adventurers!

I absolutely love our Rocky Talkies for mountain adventures with friends and family! We started with 4, and just added 2 more to lend to friends for resort skiing with big groups, backcountry skiing, bikepacking with families etc!! Amazing, and their customer service is the best in the business.
