Would I want to dig a latrine pit with it? Absolutely not, just like I wouldn't want to fell a tree with a camp hatchet. But if I'm camping it'll probably be at a state park or other maintained area, and I just don't see the need to dig giant pits or trenches. I can bundle this trowel unobtrusively into my pack and ignore it unless I need it. Since it's blaze orange, I'm also less likely to misplace it. For $6 this is a win.
After using it I'd like to add, you wont be forgeting this trowel in the middle of the woods because this thing is BRIGHT! Amazing color specially if you're like me and you sometimes forget things at the camping site
