Buy the Sync Module for Live View

Buy the Sync Module for Live View
I purchased the surveillance camera to keep an eye on my animals. I ended up buying three of them: one for the front door, one for the chicken coop, and one for the ducks. I did not know that I could buy the Sync Module to avoid having to pay for a subscription. A subscription cost $30 each camera, so that would be $90 per year. The sync module is $50 and you only have to have one for all of the cameras instead of for each one. I successfully set up all the cameras with the sync module with ease. Just tap on the square with the plus sign in the lower left corner of each of the camera views on the home page. It is so nice being able to check on the camera whenever I want and also have it on motion detection. You can’t check live view on the camera on the subscription plan. I ended up canceling the subscription as soon as I found out about the sync module. As far as camera quality, it reminds me of one of those old flip phone cameras. The quality is not good at all, but it is good enough that you can see what’s happening, as long as the subject is close to the camera. On our front door, it picks up the motion of the cars driving by on the other side of the field that is across the street from us. In other words, probably about a fourth of a mile away. I had to change the settings so that it wouldn’t pick up those cars. Otherwise it would be going off all the time. That is a nice thing about the cameras—you can choose which area that it senses on the motion detection settings. It did pick up the neighbor’s dog on my porch. Sometimes I think the night vision is better than the day vision. When I put a camera in the chicken coop, it showed me that I have a mouse problem (now taken care of). When the camera turns on from the motion detection, a red light comes on and the chickens will be drawn to it and peck at it, but it hasn’t been an issue other than them just noticing it. Another nice thing about the camera is that you can change how often it detects motion. From 10 seconds to one minute. I have the front door set to 10 seconds but I have the chicken and duck cameras set to one minute. Another thing, it defaults to taking a photo every hour. This was actually waking up my ducks in the middle of the night when it would take the picture, so I turned it off on all the cameras. I don’t think it is necessary to have a photo every single hour. As others have stated, there is about a10 second delay. I can hear somebody at the front door and then about 10 seconds later, I am notified. Since getting the sync module, it hasn’t changed a thing. I read in other reviews that the sync module actually helped with the delay, but it didn’t for me. The 10 second delay is annoying because if a cat walks by, by the time the camera starts recording, the cat is already gone from view. The same goes for if somebody rings the bell and runs. By the time the camera starts recording, the person is already gone. As far as storage capacity, I had about 1000 video clips before it stopped recording new videos. I wasn’t notified that the storage was full, but it just simply stopped recording any new clips. So I just deleted them all and then it worked fine. As far as the battery life, the first camera I bought, I was keeping an eye on a mama duck sitting on her nest. Once she had the baby ducklings, I moved the camera to various locations around the house to keep an eye on different things. I would say daily it was taking about 100 videos and I had to replace the batteries after a couple months. The batteries are not too expensive. They do require a specific kind though: ultimate lithium non-rechargeable AA. In conclusion, if you have a tight budget, this is the way to go. My aunt spent about four times the price for her cameras and yes, her cameras are high-quality and have more features than this does but if all you’re wanting is to keep an eye on the property and to see who’s at the front door, this camera works fine for that. Edit to say: my subscription trial plan ran out, and I can no longer save any videos. So all the sync module did was allow me to have live view. Pros: • Inexpensive. • With the sync module, you don’t have to have a subscription and can watch live anytime. • Able to change motion detection settings: on/off, 10-60 seconds, area, sensitivity. • Can save videos to your phone (only with a subscription plan) • Comes with attachment to mount to the wall. • Batteries included Cons: • 10-second delay • low quality imaging • requires subscription plan to save video

I bought this camera expecting to have live views all the time, but that’s not the case.

The first month of the camera worked great. I got motion alerts, and I could see the ring video occasionally. I could also get a live view through the app.

After the 30-day free trial, everything stopped working. If someone rings the doorbell, I can see a notification video, but I can’t watch the full video unless I pay for the trial after the free 30 days. They have different payment options and plans, and they also have some good deals. The battery life has been good so far. It was easy to set up with a manual screwdriver.

One major downside is that even if you plug the device into an electrical outlet or an existing doorbell, it still needs batteries to work. The hardwire only extends the device’s lifespan and reduces the need for batteries. But when the battery runs out, it stops working completely.

Works great. Alexa integration easy, and also works with no issues. Some features locked behind subscription, but nothing necessary.
For anyone with the Blink pile Module 2 set. Please read the following:
If you are following the installation steps and something seems not to work correctly, just restart your router and/or the module 2. You also may need to just wait a few hours. My Blink took a full day after installation to start saving to the flash drive and displaying my locally saved videos in the app. I took no steps in the day between, it just corrected itself. So remember give it time, and reset the module when in doubt.

Works EXTREMELY well, as I expected! I've been a user of Blink Cameras for several years now, so it only made sense to eventually adapt and hook up a doorbell camera.
Easily synced with my current Blink outdoor system/hub with no issues. The "view size" obtained by the doorbell camera is extremely wide, covering my entire porch, walkway, and the street in front of the house. VERY high quality picture and easily works with the Blink App to be monitored and customize the settings of your entire camera system. The Blink App has incredible features, such as the ability to block out grid squares that you don't need to be alerted on, so it won't false alert for things such as passing vehicles on the road. By blocking out the entire street beyond your sidewalk/yard, the system will not alert you until someone crosses the invisible grid line you've created around your home. BEST FEATURE AVAILABLE!

The built-in microphone is VERY HIGH quality, and can be adjusted easily through the app as well. The doorbell sound quality is top notch and the phone connection when ringing is a nice standard tone that isn't alerting or annoying.

If I had one request to adjust the design & features, I would LOVE to have an additional doorbell hub (OTHER THAN AN INDOOR CAMERA!) on the inside to hear the doorbell throughout the house! I, personally, don't care to monitor the interior of my home or the people inside of it, so indoor cameras are not something I am willing to take on to extend the doorbell alert to anywhere but my smartphone.

Overall, it's a top notch security camera (and doorbell), and if you're familiar with the Blink operating system or currently use a Blink camera at your home, then the Blink Doorbell is an easy addition to the security of your home.

Okay, 1 year using and 1 year to learn so as to give a real review, it's not some 4k ultimate video recording doorbell, but the video is clear enough and dollar for dollar it might be one of the better 1080 doorbells, it does have some issues I found work arounds for and some I couldn't, the reviews you read saying it's very slow to motion alert you are not just hard to please customers, it is an issue, It is slow to alert you thru the app on your phone, why I have not a clue, the work around is if you have Echo Dot or Echo Show and you know how to set up routines, have Alexa tell you when that device detects motion, I found it lightning quick, why that works faster I don't know, lol, remember I'm doing honest review on how things worked for me. I also discovered you can have Echo Show or Echo Dot be your chime so again if you understand Alexa routines, and you have alexa devices, you will never have an issue hearing when someone rings your blink Doorbell, don't forget to link your Blink app and the Alexa app to ensure the above things work for you, okay on to issue I can't find a work around, Blinks idea of battery life reminds me of auto manufacturers MPG estimates, we all know in the real world it's not going to happen, sure, if you dial down all the features, you might get half of what Blink says, but then I ask you, why have it, we buy them to use them right ?, so I have found average battery life even using the suggested energizer ultimate lithium, is about 6 months, not 2 years and don't care how they or their paid reviewers try to spin it, it's not going to happen even if you dial all the features down, making it a waste of money, and yes I'm using the sync module which is supposed to help battery life, maybe it does, can't answer that but real life, no B.S. spinning, your not going to come close to their battery projections, my only work around for that is the batteries are easy to change and I understand and can deal with this, Speaking of the Blink module, I use it for local storage and I also use the pay for cloud storage, that's another non work around issue, far far to many features are LOCKED OUT, if you don't pay for the Blink subscription, Now if you don't care about saving videos and you just want to know who is at your door regardless if you are home or away, this will alert you, it will display to you video of who and allow you to talk to them also and I must say it does a good job at it and you don't need the blink subscription and if you do have the Blink module and a usb stick in, it will save those for you, at short lengths, but it will do it. Overall it is a good security device, and although obviously it is far from the better ones. From a pure value Perspective I would highly recommend this, , easy to install, no wires, pretty much can put it where you want it, Again it does everything pretty well, One of the best prices out there, just understand it has shortcomings, but also understand it's price, and it will certainly do the job for you, this isn't a trashing review, I tried my hardest to be real and actually recommend it, it just doesn't function at the upper levels of some of the others, but it doesn't have the upper price tag , plus I am actually going to buy another, remember, you can put them about anywhere, I actually have one stashed at the front of my house, not by the door, it gives me a full frontal view of my home when I am away, sure it is a Doorbell but it is a camera as well and at this nice price why not, weather elements have not hurt mine a bit in the 13 months I have had them, including the one not by the door and pretty open to rain, snow and cold, it has held up well, still ticking, no signs of wear, so another plus
