First Impressions...Not Good, Second Impressions...Better
*Updated review after a few months*I finally got issues worked out with iFit subscription. Bottom line is that Nordictrak did not include my subscription in the box, and there was a lot of miscommunication and people tripping over each other on the customer service side to get it straightened out. I was quite unhappy with my first two weeks having the rower. Now that the subscription issue us solved and I've had a few dozen workouts on the machine, I'm adding a star (moved from 3 to 4 stars) and giving more detail. What's been good: The workouts with iFit are outstanding. I have loved rowing the rivers of the world with olympians and champions. The coach has a helmet camera on, and they talk you through the entire routine as they row through beautiful settings. I absolutely love these challenging but scenic rowing experiences. The coaches give good instruction, and I'm always clear on what I'm supposed to be doing at any given time. The studio sessions are also very good. I like the coaches and the fun atmosphere when I want a change of pace from the river-based scenic routes.Overall the iFit courses and library are really good, I like the variety of workouts and trainers, and I'm excited to see them continue adding more content for self-guided workout schedules. I would like to see iFit add more structure to their programs...as in create automatic playlists and calendars based on goals (for example, 90 day programs for weight loss, competititon training, cardio, etc. based on goals). Right now you have to choose your own workout and schedule, so I'm not sure if I'm doing the right types of workouts at the right intervals to accomplish my goals. The cons: Unit does occasionally freeze and needs a hard reset (unplug, plug back in). Startup time is pretty slow, so I usually plug in the machine and go fill up my water bottle, do some stretches, then come back to the machine to get started. Everything else is listed in my original review.Original Review:Got my RW900 over the weekend, and first impressions are mixed. Let's start with the positives:+Rower has a very solid build quality+Setup was very easy (I bought from Amazon so I could skip the mandatory $250 "White Glove setup" scam from Nodictrack's website. If you are able-bodied enough to use a rower, you should have not trouble putting this together DIY.+Rowing was very enjoyable, I like the fan control handle and the overall feel of the machine.+As a rowing machine on it's own, this is a great piece of equipment. It's everything else (you know, attention to details) that is making me strongly consider sending this thing back.-First frustration, the Amazon description says "1 year free iFit". There is no promo code or instructions on how to redeem the free year. On one of their brochures in the box, it tells you to visit ifit.com/activate, which I did. It said everything was set up activated, but I'm still locked out. If you don't plan to have iFit, DO NOT buy this machine. Nearly everything on the rower's interactive screen is locked out if you use the free subscription. I really wanted to use this rower in a guided training session, but since nothing is working I will probably end up spending an hour on the phone with customer service. There should be VERY clear instructions in the packaging that tell me what website to visit to activate my iFit account, what activation code to use (the machine asks you for an activation code during initial setup...which of course I didn't have!), and how long it will take before my free 1-year subscription becomes active.-Next complaint, customer service is only M-F during regular working hours. Very unhelpful when I also work those hours and don't have extra time to spend on the phone getting things fixed.-There is no on/off switch or auto-shutoff feature. I waited for the machine to turn off, and after several hours and it was still running, I went back to my owner's manual that says to turn off the machine, you have to unplug it. WHAT!?! It's irritating enough that the boot up time on this machine is 3-5 minutes (if you don't count the two times it's frozen up on me already), but to have to go through the boot up procedure by plugging in the machine every time I want to use it is very poor design thinking.-The touch screen is huge, which I love, but the bezels on it are also huge (see photos, the black outer border is about 1.5" thick all the way around). It looks like they stuck a small TV from 2009 on the end of this thing. The image quality is acceptable, but the touchscreen is frustratingly slow compared to my other smart devices at home.-The "row your boat through cool locations" feature is really lame. I was thinking I would be able to casually row through an iconic canal or lake while the video slowly rolled forward to match my speed and the sound of waves rolling and birds chirping overhead played through the speakers. Instead, NordicTrack has ripped off still images from Google Maps that just reload every few seconds (think about Google street view when you click to move to the next still image). With all the money I'm spending on a rower, you would think they could afford to send someone to these locations with a GoPro to get some real footage.-The beeps and tones the machine makes while interacting sound more like error noises. They need to improve the sounds the machine makes when acknowledging things like startup, volume up, volume down, etc.-The overall firmware of the system feels clunky and underwhelming. The design/ UI isn't bad, but the experience/ UX is bad. It's based on Android software (way to save money, NordicTrack!), and the menus are very thin and unhelpful. The look and feel is attractive, but nothing makes much sense where it is placed in the menu screens. For example, when you complete a workout, there is one giant button that says "Save Workout" and a tiny button on the other side of the screen that says "delete workout". It took me a while to figure out that "Save" meant "Log" my workout, as in "yes, please keep track of my progress". Also, since my iFit membership is in limbo, virtually everything I try to do on the screen is a deadend to "subscribe now!"Overall I am beyond frustrated at my experience and am contemplating sending the machine back. With the rower, tax, and protection plan is this purchase as almost $1800. I'm happy with the machine, but extremely disappointed with the service, software, and design thinking from everything else. Hopefully I will get a chance to revise my review to be more positive once NordicTrack makes some software updates and I get a chance to talk to customer service.

I started using the Row machine April 18. It is June 27 and I have lost 11lbs and feel great! I row 5 days a week because it is fun with so many different workouts on I-Fit. I generally do not care for long reviews so bottom line this is a product that lives up to all expectations. Here are details:

I started out slow. Physical set up was easy if you read the directions. Yes, I had to call tech support to get my system updated but they were great and I was only on hold for about 20 minutes. I could gripe about the initial internet set up since I had the machine in the basement and there was a weak signal. It took me a day or two to figure out a solution. I use my wifi jet pack to give me a strong signal and after my call to tech support I have had zero issues in my 50+ workouts. In other words if you have a good internet signal there are no issues to speak of. If your internet is weak you may have I-fit issues and you need the I-Fit on the big screen to make the row machine experience work.
So how about the machine. Row is smooth and easy to use screen is awesome. My wife was new to the Machine and after a few of the I-Fit beginner Row programs she was also off to the races. We have separate accounts under the one I-Fit membership. This is really important as I-Fit work outs are designed to have resistance match the use profile for height, weight, sex etc.
Ok now I am going to rave a bit. I-Fit is amazing on the machine. The workouts give you the choice of just Rowing or hitting the floor mat for body weight exercises. You can focus on your core, strength, cardio, endurance you name it and there is a program for it. Once you browse the trainers and workouts you can add them to your favorites so you can find them right away on the screen. A lot of the trainers ( I have my favorites and so does my wife) have series so there are between 5 and 10 workouts in the series that you can do to progressively challenge yourself.
Then the machine tracks all your workouts and captures all your data so you can see what you have accomplished. You can also find workouts as short as 10 minutes and as long as an hour. The trainers also are doing workouts designed for the rower and they get creative using the machine for stretching and isolation exercises. You can see in my picture I have space and put the machine on my sons hockey tiles. You do not have to have that and the machine does store well. You do need some space to do some of the floor exercises where you use the sliding seat. I-Fit has an app on your phone and so when I went on vacation i switched to programs that did not use the Row machine and found so many awesome ones that I still use them. I recommend the following I-Fit trainers -Gideon Akande, Anja Garcia, hannah Eden, Alex Silver Fagen,Desmond Nanchengwa & John Peel. I am sure you find the ones that motivate you! Best way to make Covid not turn me into a blob! Have fun!

I have advanced osteoarthritis in my knees, and need a low impact, high energy workout. My full-time job is sitting at a computer (at home), so when the gym closed due to the pandemic, my arthritis worsened to where it was painful to walk. I've never been the type to workout at home, always needing the discipline of a class or gym, but that all changed in June when we bought our NordicTrack RW900 Rower!!

It was easy for my husband to assemble, and even easier to get started with the iFit videos. The rower itself is very very smooth and sturdy. I've been on less expensive rowers and spin bikes that hurt my joints due to the build of the equipment, or have that slight wobble. I have had no joint issues with our NordicTrack, even with increasing the resistance. I do recommend getting the iFit heart monitor. If you are like me, I prefer knowing which zone I am in during a workout. This rower had definitely boosted my fitness while enjoying a good workout.
The iFit videos are excellent and make my workouts zip by! I especially enjoy rowing with Alex Gregory and James Stephenson -- the views, their 'coaching' and motivating shout outs get me working harder. Check them out!

My only suggestion would be to have a 'power off' button on the monitor, rather than unplugging it each time (to prevent shadowing on the screen). In the beginning, it would be slow to boot up each time, but now after installing a couple of updates, it is much quicker. Just a concern with the daily unplugging\plugging that the plug-in will get worn\damaged.

All in all tho, the NordicTrack rower is definitely the complete package! Love it!

Let me preface this review by stating that my overall rating is 1 star, but the machine (except for continued problems with the console) and iFit are solid. So, that is what I am basing off of now.....

I did a ton of research and after dragging my feet for several months, finally decided to buy the NordicTrack RW900. I was super excited when it showed up, but very disappointed when I plugged everything in and the console/monitor flashed on and then shut off, never to turn on again. NordicTrack (Icon Fitness) customer service sent me a wire to swap out and that didn't work, so then they decided I needed a new console and after expressing my frustration they told me they would expedite the shipping. After a week or so and no console, I called only to learn that the part was on backorder and so were all the machines. So, for 10 weeks I used the rower without the console, while waiting for the console replacement. The good thing is you don't need the console to operate the rower, the bad thing is is that I spent the extra money to have the iFit function and that was not accessible during this time.

Now, once I received the replacement, the console has functioned without problems and I love it! The machine is sturdy. I am at the upper end of the "weight limit" and have had no issues. The classes on iFit have been awesome and I find myself rowing twice to 3x as long with the different workouts. I have it in my basement and so I don't pack it up and store it, but have done it a few times to clean and it is very easy to fold and move. So, despite the initial horrible experience I would have told you I highly recommend the product. However, not even 2 years later, the console has gone out again. After 10 weeks of trying to get some assistance with this and finally talking to someone slightly helpful, I was told I must pay a $159 charge to have a technician come out to "diagnose" the machine in order to receive any parts. Had my service warranty not been out, they could have done this over the phone, but since I only now have manufacturer's warranty for parts, I have to pay to have this done. If I wanted to just buy it new console it would be $600. Icon Fitness is a total piece of trash company when it comes to their machines. So, think real hard.

I love my rower. I have only used it a few times but it was super easy to set up and so far it works great. I do not use it with ifit, manual only and have had no issues - I even synced my heart rate chest strap to it and it works great. It does make a small click noise every time I pull the handle to row but with a bit of music on I don’t hear it. It takes a bit of getting used to for folding it away but I love that it doesn’t take up a ton of floor space when not in use.

I love my NordicTrack RW900 Rowing Machine with a 22” Touchscreen and iFit Family. I have searched for months comparing features with other rowers. I am so happy I decided on the NordicTrack RW900 and the iFit Family.
I have rowed on several machines throughout my life with hired "trainers", I didn't realize that I was doing it all wrong and getting no benefit until I trained with the iFit team. The iFit family is teaching me how to get the full benefit of the workout, step by step at my own pace.
The RW900 looks good in my living (everyone wants to try it) but it can easily fold and move out of the way when needed.
I Highly recommend Norditrack RW900. Best piece of equipment I have ever bought.

After 3 weeks of following Nicole Vogel 12 set beginner series followed by Hanna Eden beginner, I have lost 8 pounds. More importantly than the weight, its the muffin top that has gone down, and seeing ab definition. Added to the routine, eating salads with homemade, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, apple cider vinegar a dash of salt and pepper, fish 2 x a week, chicken 3 a week, red meat 1 a week and a cheat day, (still have those cravings) this low impact on the body, (if you row correctly) has done amazing. Having a visual person guiding you through the work outs is huge. I know some on here have not had success. Like anything you must follow the proper technique, do this at least 3 times a week, eat habits change, (no junk food, fast food, sugary foods) you will see results. If I don't row at least 10 minutes a day, I feel sluggish. Added to the row work outs, I follow that with beginner yoga. The row work out warm down stretch is very much like yoga, however, following a yoga instructor for 10 to 15 minutes works wonders for the recovery. If I was to say anything negative, it would be there is never any live instructors. Not sure what I get for the monthly membership, will be calling to find out. The RW900 with the big screen is well worth the upgrade price. And to add to this, I am 56 and looking like I did when I was 26. Love rowing.

This is a great product that was easy to set up. My only issue was the activation of the 12 month iFit subscription. Amazon customer service was of no help and all it took was an email to Icon Health & Fitness and the issue was rectified immediately.
