Be careful, .5 looks like some peoples 5 o’clock shadow. However, it also let it cut my lip while trimming.Side by side to my old trimmer, realized my old one is closer to a 1.5 with just the guard. At 1.5 it did not cut my lip anymore.It is great having so many increments to choose the desired length. Unfortunately the guard does keep it from getting right at your nose. A very quick snip with small scissors will get that spot.That said, it took 2-3 passes to trim max. Very fast and wider area at a pass it seemed. So overall happy. Much faster than several other brands and styles of beard trimmers I’ve had in the past.

    I've owned maybe 5 or 6 beard trimmers over the last 15 years. Make no mistake, this is the most expensive, but hands down it's also the best (that includes competition from Braun, Philips Norelco and Wahl).

    The quality is the first thing you notice as soon as you unbox it - the feel of the handle and the quality of the blade, even down to the USB charging cable which doesn't have the usual cheapness you'd expect from an accessory that's something of an afterthought.

    The trimming experience is incredibly comfortable - it hasn't yanked on a hair once (even some of my more expensive previous trimmers were guilty of that). The design of the guard and the quality of the blade means that the process is efficient and effective, even with bits that can be tricky like under your nose, there's no need to remove the guard and tackle these areas manually. I've always had trouble with the "wispier" areas on either side of my jaw, and the Hedger does the best job of any trimmer I've owned so far, although admittedly I still need to take it down to zero to finish it up by eye.

    The battery life is really good. I charged it when I got it, trim my beard every 2 weeks or so (I make that 11 uses), and it's still on about a third charge.

    If I had to say something negative, the zipper on the case can be a little troublesome and it takes a few attempts to close it. That's such a trivial issue, it doesn't detract from the Manscaped Beard Hedger getting full marks from me.

    I like this shaver. The build quality is nice and the battery last a long time for me at least. The one thing I had an issue with was the gearbox beneath the head of the razer had a too much lubricant. This caused my beard hair to clump to the lubricant and slow down the motor significantly. After disassembling the head and washing the lubricant off, it functions much better. I get that the lubricant is there to help but it did not help me unfortunately.     My husband can actually trim his own beard! I’m always nervous I will mess it up when I had to use hair trimmers. This takes no time and is so easy. Make sure you test the size you use because it seems different from hair clippers size. I would purchase again! Works good on his caterpillar brows too!

    The design might work well for people maintaining longer beards, I can only speak for wanting to utilize the trimmer at its lowest setting for a very close trim. The guard is really great around the easy to get to spots, but with the guard on, I cannot get into areas around my nose and lips properly. The guard can be removed, but the bare trimming surface is not nice to use, it is too hot and not gentle enough.

    First off the build quality is outstanding. Also the adjustable guard should be a mandatory feature on every beard trimmer. The battery life is also amazing.

    This is almost the perfect product in my opinion but I can not give it 5/5 due to one thing.

    Even at the lowest setting ( no guard), it does not get very close to your skin. If you're looking for a beard trimmer that takes it down right to your skin this is not for you. Besides that its perfect
