On the whole the strap is very good & holds a VERY thick winter coat but the metal caribiner ring could do with being a bit more secure as I had a previous one bought elsewhere and the strap came off the caribiner ring. Fortunately there was nothing in the strap at the time.

    A very handy gadget for carrying extra stuff, especially clothing which you can cinch into the strap and clip to a bag or backpack. You can also use the ring as a carabiner separately. Only small complaints are that the end of the strap is hard to get hold off to tighten when it's been fully extended, and I'd like to have been able to chose a colour to match my bag, but I got beige.

    It seems that there are two kinds of carrying clip, and the metal one is the right one. Send back any with plastic fastenings. I have used this extensively in Europe and it has been really helpful. Very sturdy. Unlike the ones with the plastic clips, this was reliable and hasn’t broken even under heavy use.

My only gripe is that I wish the strap was a little longer for more bulky items like fleeces that you might want to take with you on potentially chilly occasions.
