A modular shelving system, designed and perfected over three years. Each shelf can work as a standalone or can be used as a base unit to build your own modular shelving system.
A freestanding shelf that you can expand, shrink, and reconfigure over time. Featuring birch plywood supports faced with an ash or walnut wood finish, that offer an eye-catching contrast to adjustable powder-coated steel shelves. Plus, special add-ons like a cabinet, display shelf, or wardrobe bar allow you to further customize a unit to fit your needs. Whether you're creating a home library, or a well-organized entryway, The Shelving System will work for you.
Start small and add over time. Eventually hand it on. The Shelving System has an eye-catching contrast of powder coated steel shelves and wood supports makes the Shelf the perfect place to express yourself with the things you love.

Does the Shelf need to be attached to a wall?
We highly recommend placing all Shelves against a wall and securing the Tall Shelves with the wall anchor kit provided to help prevent serious injuries from furniture tip-overs. The risk of serious injury due to furniture tip-over is reduced with the Short Shelves because it is under 35 inches, but the risk is not eliminated. We also recommend placing Short Shelves against the wall and encourage you to be mindful of placing them in a safe area for all members of your home.

Are the individual shelves adjustable?
Each middle shelf (not the fixed, top and bottom shelves in a Tall Shelf or the fixed bottom shelf in a Short Shelf) within every Shelf has three height options, allowing you to easily adjust it up and down in order to fit your most prized possessions perfectly. Resting at their center heights, each individual shelf is 11 5/8" from one another and you have the option to raise or lower them 1 1/4", based on your needs. You can also remove middle shelves as desired to create even more vertical spacing between shelves. The bottom and top shelves in any Shelf must remain installed at all times to maintain structural integrity.
How should weight be distributed across the individual shelves?
We recommend placing your heavier items on the lower shelves of your Shelf (here’s looking at you, avid record collectors!). Additionally, we suggest evenly distributing your items horizontally across the shelves so be sure to keep this in mind during your shelf curating process.
