A great game for people who love punishing platformers

A great game for people who love punishing platformers
Of course as a digital code it worked. I got this game for my 9 y.o. and he loves it. He played a couple hours of it and this game is really challenging, but it doesn't punish you. If you die trying to get through a screen, you respawn in the same room. So he kept trying different things and is slowly progressing. Every time he clears a screen, he has a sense of accomplishment and is excited for more. As he was playing we were talking and he would comment that he hoped the game would get more difficult, and it would deliver.

What more can I say after this indie game got nominated for game of the year along the big triple A titles. This platformer has some of the best controls out there with such a high level of precision thar every move is incredibly satisfying to perform. You never feel like the game cheated you and the difficulty curve is super organic and seamless. It's a very hard game but that just adds to the immense satisfaction you get once you beat every level.
Besides the excellent controls this game tells a very heartwarming and deep story that you would never expect for this kind of game. The characters develop so well along the story and it's a nice break from the hardcore platforming in between.
A must have for anyone specially on the Switch.

Maybe you'll like it, maybe you won't but either way, you must purchase this game and give it a try! It's one of my all-time favorite switch games. I'm a huge Nintendo fan and love just about any Zelda or Mario game. I'm a retro gamer by heart, and when Shovel Knight came out, I fell in love. Celest takes similar elements to amazing retro gaming and makes such an amazing style of playing. If you liked Super Meat Boy, then you will be happy about this game as well!

I purchased this for my boyfriend and he's obsessed. I don't play games, but I watch a lot because he's into them, and it was genuinely interesting to watch along with and the mechanics of the game are pretty cool. As far as purchasing the code on here goes, I was a little worried about how easily he would be able to actually get the game but the whole process was smooth. If you're thinking of gifting a game to someone this is definitely a good option. The only caveat being that the digital games take up memory on the switch so there has to be space for it on there.

This game is absolutely perfect. It has a decent difficulty level for everyone and a lot of post-game experience for advanced players which is really tough! It's highly addicting, easy to learn and very entertaining. The story is beautiful and original; the music is majestic, and the look and feel takes you to the early platform games' nostalgia. Worth every dollar ❤

This is a nice game. Fun to play. Challenging. A lot of nice little touches. Areas where they could have done a bit better of a job in helping the player along. But in general, a nicely done game.

The control scheme takes a little getting used to and is the source of my "gripes". I understand the challenge of designing the scheme. But it feels generally uncomfortable to use. This problem is exacerbated when playing the Switch in handheld mode, which is solely how I use my Switch.

Due to the nature of the controls, at least for me, the joy cons routinely disconnect. Interestingly almost always in the same exact same spots. So many deaths have been induced by the controller. No other game I have suffers from this problem. My guess is that my button sequencing introduces some torque to the joy cons which then makes the Switch think there is a connection problem.

The game is worth giving a go. However if you are like me and will play it mostly handheld, you may want to skip this.

Love it. Everything about it. It's insanely difficult, and can be rather frustrating at times, but it's incredibly satisfying and rewarding for the same reasons. The game perfectly demonstrates the idea that perseverance leads to success; Yes, the game (i.e. life) is very difficult at times, but if you keep trying, you will succeed. More emotional and personal depth than you would ever expect from a simple platformer.

10/10 for gameplay, soundtrack, and story.

This is a great game mechanically and well designed. The story is good with interesting characters. There are times were you want to just throw your controller and give up, but once you pass that part of the stage you feel so elevated, till the next pitfall pulls you right back to the start of the section. The music is great and a definitely worth playing through a level again just to hear it.
