Really Nice TV at a great price.

Really Nice TV at a great price.
This is the 3rd flatscreen TV I've owned. The first was a Samsung 32" (non-smart). The 2nd, a Vizio 50" Smart with built-in Chromecast, and now this 65" Hisense Smart Android TV. The Samsung had a program guide built in that showed what would be coming on up to 8 hrs. ahead. I liked that. The Vizio only showed what was currently playing. The Hisense shows what's playing and what will come on next. Miss the program guide of the Samsung. I received the Hisense on 1/25/21. Has been doing great since that time. It has a beautiful picture, and a rich sound quality. You can actually hear some bass notes and the dialogue is clear. It's not the "tinny" sound most flatscreens have. I do have the optical audio output connected to and external Onkyo amplifier, but for most programs, the sound quality is satisfactory. The remote pictured in the item description is not the remote I received. I posted a picture of the remote I did get with this review. After a little research, I concluded that the remote I got usually comes with the 75" model. I feel it is a better remote. It has more dedicated streaming app buttons, and it doesn't feel cheap. As a point of information, this is a bluetooth remote, NOT an infrared (IR) remote like most TV's, so the remote doesn't have to be pointed towards the TV. As the description states, it is a voice remote, yet it still has the number buttons, as well as volume and channel buttons, etc. The remote was a deciding factor for me on buying the Hisense. most TV's with voice remotes have minimal buttons and functionality. I read a review that said the legs were flimsy. The ones I received were metal, and very sturdy I like the fact that this TV has the Android operating system. Playstore is built-in, and you can download most apps from there. Google assistant is built-in, so if there is a particular show or movie you want to see, all you have to do is push a button and ask, it will search and display it, as well as what streaming service it is available on. All in all, I really like this TV. But, there is one drawback I don't like (but I guess you can't have everything), and that is the only button on the TV itself is a Power button to turn on or off the set, and to change inputs. There are no volume or channel buttons, so if you lose or break the remote, basically you have no control. Since it is a bluetooth remote, you can't just buy a universal remote because they mostly are IR remotes. The TV doesn't have an IR sensor. As I said before, it does have a beautiful picture and decent sound. I feel it was a good purchase. The price for a 65" on this model was very good. I would recommend this brand and model.

This tv has 90 local dimming zones! The H8G1 model has a more advanced algorithm for controlling the backlight zones and display which reduce blooming by a lot compared to last year's model.

The colors that this thing produces are insane. Brights are really popping and blacks are inky black. This looks in my opinion as good as an OLED for 99% of the content you would consume.

Input leg is incredibly low, I hooked up my PC to it and it was very very responsive.

The remote is awesome too, really quick and the voice control works well.

My initial unit had a problem with the LCD that caused a static cracked looking pattern along the top part of the screen that was most noticeable during bright scenes. Between talking to Hisense and Amazon customer service I got a new unit promptly shipped to me which has been working flawlessly ever since.

Between the quality of the TV and the professionalism and kindness of their customer service, Hisense has probably a lifetime customer in me :D!

I normally don't write amazon reviews but I had to for this one!

(Only drawback I can think of for the super techy people is that there is no Variable Refresh Rate (Freesync or GSync). But that is a super minor drawback for the quality of panel you are getting and the responsiveness of UI)

5/5 Will be reccomending my friends and family get this TV.

I may not be the best person to review this tv. This replaced a 50" Sharp Aquos that was at least 15 years old. The Sharp was a great tv in it's day (better picture than anything else IMHO) and I would still be using it if it hadn't finally started to die. Many of my friends have gotten larger tvs since then and I have not been impressed by the picture quality enough to purchase a new model.

We did replace some smaller sets in the house with TCL tv's and I was impressed with those as the price was low and the picture is quite good. I would have gotten another TCL, but couldn't find anything in stock with a decent price. If I was going to spend a lot I'd get an OLED, but I didn't want to go that high. The Hisense models looked to have as good a picture at a little bit better price. When I saw this one in stock and on sale I went for it.

So far I find the picture to be really, really good. I am not blown away, but no complaints. It's bright enough to work in a well lit room during the day and the viewing angle is wide enough for the room. The remote is just ok and the setup was a breeze. I didn't do the full setup though as we use a Fire Stick.

My only nitpick was that the mounts for this tv are very low on the unit so with the tv being a little taller and the mounts a good 4" lower I had to remount our bracket lower for this tv. If the mounts had been closer to the middle I would not have had to do anything. It was also lucky our mount had spacers. I didn't need them for the old tv, but the mounting area on this tv is rounded with the threads recessed a bit so I needed them.
