The GREENGUARD Gold Certification was created to help buyers know which mattress manufacturers have proven sustainable products with low emissions that will improve your indoor air quality. Receiving this certification validates our sustainability claims so you can be sure you’re purchasing a natural mattress or bedding product that meets emissions safety standards, and produces only low volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
What do Mattresses have to do with Indoor Air Quality?
Many household products contain toxic materials that can release harsh chemicals back into the air and greatly reduce your indoor air quality.
The GREENGUARD Certification was created by UL Environment, one of the leading environmental health agencies in the world, to help you to know whether or not a product could cause indoor air pollution.
Many Birch products have received this certification, including the Natural Mattress, Luxe Natural Mattress, Plush Organic Mattress Topper, and Organic Pillow, indicating that our products are safe for indoor spaces and have been tested for volatile organic compounds (VOCs), pollutants, phthalates, and formaldehyde.
The Gold level certification indicates that we meet even stricter requirements and our products are considered safe for the indoor environments of sensitive individuals such as children and the elderly.
Birch has gone the extra mile to obtain indoor air quality certification by meeting the most stringent requirements possible for the GREENGUARD Certification Program.
To do this, we submitted our products for scientific testing in environmental chambers at the GREENGUARD Environmental Institute. They receive rigorous testing and evaluation of volatile organic compound emissions.
