- Reviewed in the United States on June 12, 2022The picture is incredible. Previously I had a 55" TCL/Roku TV, set a bit farther away, and I liked it. But I couldn't see the difference between HD and 4K. Well, add 10" and sit a few feet closer, and the difference is striking -- at first I almost got dizzy watching some moving scenes. I went ahead and paid the extra for 4k Netflix and am happy with that.
The sound is what I would expect from a thin, light TV like this. Not a lot of bass, not a lot of midrange power & clarity. For the price of this TV you can add a good sound system and still be ahead pricewise. But currently we're watching it without added sound and it's good enough not to be annoying.
It's surprising how light such a big TV is. I will be mounting it, and while I know I "should" have help, I probably will do it alone and won't worry. I'm in my 60's in (at best) half decent shape but I don't work out, so you don't need to be an athlete to pick this up. Small, slight people would have trouble.
BTW we got this TV because we were very happy with the Roku TCL 55" we got 3 or 4 years ago but need to replace due to moving. The Roku app works fine. My wife says it's a little slow to start a new app; I haven't noticed that. If 5 or 10 years from now the internal Roku just can't handle it due to new software always needing more CPU horsepower or memory, I'll spend $30 and get a Roku stick. Meanwhile it's nice to have just one zapper to do everything.
I knocked one star off of "remote" simply because the remote does not have a microphone. You can probably do that using the Roku app.
The Roku app isn't the greatest, though; it can't handle certain things if your phone has lots of pictures. (I'd like to set up my photos for screensave mode and the app has that feature but it doesn't work because my phone has too many pictures.) But that's not TCL's fault.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 2, 2020Size: 55 inStyle: TVVerified PurchaseFirst impressions, just got it today.
Bought this TV because it's rated highly compared to the same price range/size of only TVs on the "rtings".
I think the TV sounds really good. I have it at like 15-20/100 and that is plenty loud for me, even too loud at times. I'm in a media room btw, not a big open living room setting.
The TV also looks good in my opinion. Nothing like an OLED of course, since it's not, but I think those this price and being LED it looks great. I don't notice "halos" or light bleeding into the dark zones.
There's a game mode for gamers out there who want less input lag! And I don't even notice the change in visuals that apparently get a little worse when you use game mode which is great for me.
TV is nice and big and the screen is pretty much the entire screen. The border is almost flush to the screen and barely there - added picture for reference.
I can't say anything about the TV feet it comes with, because I ordered separate universal ones so the TV would fit on my current TV stand. Just from looking at and touching them they seem just like their your standard subpar feet that pretty much every TV comes with these days.
It does require you to sign up for a Roku account as well as have internet as far as I know (I didn't see any skip option, but I didn't look too hard either). However, it was a fast and easy signup taking like 1-2min. The part that asks for payment information can be skipped entirely thank goodness.
The HDMI, etc ports are at the sides of the TV, with nothing to plug in the middle. This is pretty good if you want to wall mount your TV, as the mount will not interfere with any of the plugs. There is a downside that the angles the HDMIs go in are kind of awkward since my devices are on the opposite side/middle area, but as long as they don't cause damage to the cords I could really care less. Pic of this as well for reference.

- Reviewed in the United States on February 26, 2021Have two four series in bedrooms a 4k and a 1080 and love the TCL roku TV. So when we upgraded the LG in the living room, it was a no brainer to check out the TCL.
Got a 75 inch five series and couldn't be happier. Picture is incredible after trying all the serrings this thing has and finding the right ones for us. Watching 4k sports is incredible. You can see the pebbling on the ball surface and blades of grass on the turf. 1080 is almost as good.
There are better TVs out there but not by much to my eyes and not worth thousands more, in fact, I think this is a better picture than a lot of the big buck TVs out there that I have seen. Colors are good and viewing angle as well. Good blacks overall, but sometimes it does them funny (greenish and blotchy like a cheap TV) but that seems to be from poor quality sources, like old black and white documentaries on Nefllix.
Sound is actually quite good but I use a sound system so no real review. Do not game, so also no review here. From what I read though, you may want to look at the six series for gaming.
Overall, value for money or not, take a look at this TV. Highly recommended.
