I have been doing my own Apres nails for almost a year now. I had to figure out a way to keep my nails looking good while working a job that requires me to get my nails dirty daily while using heavy equipment with out them breaking or chipping two days in. I wouldn’t be able to afford going to a salon every time I broke or lost a nail. Apres did this for me. When this new “ novice” gel makes the nail application just a little quicker for me. It has held up just as well as the original potted gel. It’s just thicker and does squish out from the nail is I press down a little more. I very happy and most importantly my nails are flawless at work ❤️👍🏼

I purchased this product a few months ago and decided to finally use it recently when I lost my extend gel that comes in the nail polish bottle. At first, I was like why didn’t I just use this?! The way I was able to easier situate my nail without the mess like the polish bottle extend gel was unmatched. I had very high expectations for this product after I was done with my nails. Later that day, my nails were missing and I didn’t even know they had popped off. I just figured that I hadn’t cured them long enough (60 secs). I tried again lastnight at 12am. Again, super optimistic on the outcome. I cured for over 120 secs. This is what my nails look like at 8am after just putting my two daughter’s hair in one ponytail, brushing my teeth, driving them to school and going on a two mile walk!! Do not buy this product. I wish I could get a refund.

I really like this product -- perfect for the extra short nails (I don't think I would be able to apply them well without this product!). The soak-off is a bit more difficult with this product. It sorta comes off in one layer rather than breaking down like the regular extend gel.

I'm happy with the the gel, although it seems a bit overpriced. It's much easier to work with in comparison to liquid gel adhesive. My first time using this product went great, although it did not last more than a week. I will practice again soon to perfect the application process. I’m in love with Novice. It’s very strong, which can be annoying when soaking off the product. But if you file it thin enough you’ll be okay. I always had some lifting issues with the original extend gel in regards to the gel x tip, not the natural nail. Novice is easy to use and adheres so well. It doesn’t get as hot as extend gel, nor does it spill. You can also use it for 3D art!!

when I first got this, I was a baby in this gel-x world. I admit that it makes it easier to start doing gel extensions and it makes it easier to know how much gel to use, but… a lot of things in my day today meeting I have to have  a strong extend gel that way my nails do not pop off. with extension, my nails popped off so quickly it would be two days after I did them and they would go flying off and I’d be left. I tried to use this four times each time the same thing happened where my nails would come off two days after I would try my best not to get in contact with water, but even when I did not contact water that much, and I wore gloves to make sure there would be minimal water even when I did dishes the nails would pop off inside of the gloves. if you just need something quick and sturdy this is a great option but for day-to-day if you use your hands a lot if you need your hands a lot, this is a no, but it really does make it easy!

Note: my nail shape means I need a lot of the extend gel between my nail bed and the gel-x nail. I am using the xs natural nails. Because the gap between the two is so large I find it easier to apply the extend gel to my nail and then apply the nail tip. I also with it came with some type of applicator, this is way too thick for any type of brush so I use a plastic cuticle pusher to scoop some out and them apply it to my nail.

This product does make application easier. However, it is very thick so you need to push down really hard to flatten it as much as possible. I did not push down enough the first use and the nails sit too high causing my hair to catch on them. They are not lifting though.

I’ve been using apres (not a pro, on myself) for years. It’s been my fave way to do my nails since it came out. However, I’ve never been great at using extend gel. This made my application process fool-proof and my nails look so much better. Having the time to manipulate the nail without messing the nail whole thing up is a literal game changer. It takes me sooo much less time to do my nails and if I mess one up/one pops off, it takes me a couple minutes to apply a new one. Hands-down the best invention for gel-x to date.

The first time I tried Apres gel nails I used the gel “glue” that was in a nail polish brush. They lasted 25 days and I was SO happy. I bought the novice and followed every instruction. I use the dehydrator, tip prep, nail prep, put the gel novice on the Apres nail, mold it to my nail, remove excess gel that comes out from under or around my cuticles, flash cure for 30 seconds with their lamp and then full cure for 90 seconds. I REGRET this purchase. The first time I used the novice I thought maybe it was user error. I’ve done it two other times with the novice to try and “get better” but yesterday was the last time I’ll do it. I followed their insta for tips and within a couple hours 3/5 nails popped off. The next day, 2 others popped off. So within 24 hours 5/10 had already popped off. This product is a complete waste of money. And it’s more expensive than the regular “polish brush” gel and advertised to be better for beginners. I wish I would’ve never ordered any of it.

I bought the full Gel X kit but as a person that is fairly new to doing their own nail extensions at home, I knew that the liquid extender might be a bit of a challenge for me and I was right.  The extend gel novice is so easy to use, although my nails did come out a little sloppy the first time I used it, due to not being sure how much to use.  The second time I did extensions with it, they came out pretty nice.  It's very simple to use and makes placement and flash curing much easier for me.

I will start off by saying I am a licensed nail technician and I have been doing nails for 10+ years, as well as gel x for about 4 years. I decided to try this out and it was super easy to use and get used to and I was pleased. I spent a long time prepping both my nails and the extensions. I flash cured and also double cured in my led light (double cured because of how thick the consistency is, just to be safe). But about an hour after I had these nails on before even designing them one popped off. And then another, and next thing I know I lost 4. I’m not sure what I could have done wrong. I personally think the regular extend gel is easier to use than the novice. The directions are so vague that I had to watch YouTube videos to figure out how to use it. I honestly don’t know why this product is on the market. It DOES NOT soak off and the gel is too soft to file off, even with a carbide bit and electric file. It would not come off after soaking in 100% acetone for over an HOUR, nor with a cuticle pusher. I have been doing nails myself for years and have never had issues with removal of any other nail product. I had to go to a professional to try and remove this, and even she could not get it off. I ended up with ripped up nail beds that will probably never grow back the same. We had to put acrylic over the leftover gel to at least try and make my nails look normal again. This system is such a waste of money and time, DO NOT BUY IT.

As a nail tech, I developed an allergy to nail products and could not do my own nails anymore. I bought this product hoping it would help me “not spill” gel as the consistency is not runny like the regular gel that we use to glue the tips, and then hopefully that would minimize the contact of wet product with my skin which is what causes the allergic reactions. Only later I realized that this product is actually HEMA free, which is the allergen that I react to and is in most nail products. I honestly find the consistency to be too thick and even hard, at some point it even bent the nail tip on the part I was scooping the product with (just like they did in the video above). The thick consistency also makes it a little harder to “press down” the tip and spread the gel evenly, but with practice im sure I can perfect the amount needed for an even distribution. That being said, I am still extremely happy that I haven’t had any allergic reactions so far, even though I got some of it on my skin! I would 100% recommend this to anyone who is allergic to HEMA. Not so sure about the retention because I’ve only had it for a day now lol but so far so good! The tips on the picture are medium almond Chloe btw!

Was hesitant to buy this because of the poor reviews about it not being easy or having a strong hold. I'm so glad I didn't listen to them. Extend Gel Novice is absolutely beginner friendly, fool proof, and has a strong hold. I've had them on for a month without any issues. Aside from gel polishes, I only use Apres product, including the UV flash light to spot cure. Unlike the Extend Gel bottles, I didn't have to worry about it being messy or having air bubbles!

I am really confused by the comments saying this product doesn't work... I have had much better results with this gel than the regular gel because with proper application you don't have to hold the nail on while it cures. Plus you can easily move if the nail doesn't quite get on right the first time around. Every time I have used this my nails have lasted 6 weeks (see regrowth haha)

To achieve a longer-lasting result, I found that following Apres' instructions alone didn't suffice. For a two-week duration, I applied the extend gel as a base on my nails, curing it for 30 seconds. Then, I used the novice extend on the extend tip, pressing it firmly onto my nail, and cured it for 60 seconds under low heat before placing it under higher heat for a 5-minute cure. It's worth noting that I perform this nail application process at home.

I really love this Gel Extend Novice. As someone who does their own nails, I find it is very easy to work with, especially when putting nails on with my non-dominant hand. I love that you have a little extra time to make sure the nail goes on straight and to clean up any side-seepage. I find that my nails stay on for as long as I want them to... 4 weeks has been my personal limit on how long I can let them go but they weren't budging otherwise. I am hard on my nails, too. This pic is 1 week after doing my nails. I love the extend gel novice and I am getting nervous because I'm starting to get low and hope that it is in stock very soon!

So, I have issues with my hands, they hurt and go numb and in bad days they get shaky. The normal Extend Gel was great, but not great for those of us who have to readjust to make sure they aren’t crooked. This gel is super thick. Like, dummy thicc. I can place the nail on and readjust as I need to. The extra resistance of the thicker gel helps a ton. Especially for those of us who are just a teeny bit obsessive about making sure it’s on the nail straight. There is a learning curve when it comes to figuring out how much you need, but it leaves more room for error cause it doesn’t leave that sticky residue on your skin if you deal with some seepage. I use one of my silicone tools to clean up any extra! But be patient, prep correctly, and this stuff works great! 

Ps: APRES FOR THE LOVE OF THE GODDESS, RESTOCK THIS! I’m out and I can’t find anything else like it. :(

I found this gel way harder to use than the regular extend gel. It tends to ooze out of the sides much easier making cleanup more difficult. In addition, this gel shortens the duration of my extensions by A LOT. With proper prep, I had one nail pop off within 2 days and another within 4. Not a fan.

I’ve been using the Aprés classic gel x system for a year, maybe a year and a half, and this (along with the nude nail gel x tips) is the most disappointing product I have tried. My tips popped off within 15 minutes of application. Tips and natural nails were appropriately prepped using Aprés products/following their tutorials.

I have been doing my own gel-x nails for over a year and hald and I am not professionally trained. I tried out the novice formula to see if it would be easier to apply gel-x nails, but honestly I was not a fan of this product. This is my review after I tried to use this gel on 4 different sets. My main issue is that once you press the tip on to the nail, the gel is most likely going to ooze out from the sides or the bottom of the nail. Because the gel is not liquid, I found it challenging to clean up the excess gel with acetone or alcohol before curing. When I tried to clean it, there was always gel residue that only became visible after I cured the nail. Moreover, if gel oozes to the bottom of the nail or below the cuticle, it is almost impossible to remove the gel before curing and without removing the tip and starting over. This is fine at first, but once the nail grows out, there is messy, partially cured gel at the bottom of the nail. I fix this with an e-file, but it is unfortunate that I have to do this a week after my set. It makes the overall nail look unprofessional. The best way to reduce this problem to flatten the gel before pressing the tip to the natural nail bed, but the problem still occurs.


I also found the gel to be weaker than other extend-gels. I normally get 3-4 weeks with my gel-x nails; however, with this gel, my nails lasted a little under 2 weeks on average.


On the positive side, this gel does solve the issue of crocked nail tips.
