Pretty village in the beautiful Cotswolds with a free car park! Lovely old church with 99 yew tree gardens/graveyard. Fantastic village pub “The Falcon”. Recommend walking up Painswick Beacon for 360 panoramic views.

Beautiful, historic Cotswold village with good local facilities and plenty to do and visit in the area, especially when the weather permits walking and outdoor activities. Larger towns nearby (Stroud, Gloucester, Cheltenham) offer supermarkets and additional facilities.

Painswick is a very picturesque village with enough facilities for a short stay. There are limited places to eat but all were worth a visit. It is a good base for ramblers but not suitable for young children. There are camping sites nearby though which would be more child friendly.

A very peaceful Cotswolds village, Falcon Inn was a great place to eat, went there twice. A good place to start a Cotswolds Way walk. I only stayed for a hiking weekend with friends but could have definitely stayed longer - lots of things to see and do within an easy each (one does need a car though).

We ate at the Edgemoor Inn at Edge.
We ate at the Edgemoor Inn at Edge. The food was a good price and excellent with a varied range of food choices. Another time I would love to see the 200 Yew trees in the church yard, and the famous Rococco gardens.

Enjoyed the peace and quiet of the location.
Enjoyed the peace and quiet of the location. We ate in the only three pubs/restaurants - St Michaels Bistro, The Falcon and The Oak and enjoyed the drinks and meals in all - all quite different. Village itself can be walked round very quickly - don't expect any shops to visit but lots of nice walks on offer.
We had a lovely stay here in Painswick with our 10 year old son. The house was very nicely finished and very clean. The beds are super comfortable and the area is lovely and quiet, we slept very well! The host had thought of everything we might need and even left fresh croissants for us to enjoy.
Our host Sean was very responsive from the start, replying to messages instantly. He lives next door, so was on hand to help us should we need anything.
We would absolutely stay here again and I thoroughly recommend this house to anyone.
We had the best time at this stunning home in Painswick! It made for a wonderful birthday weekend. The local food and drink was amazing (The Painswick and the Oak get honourable mention!) We served a birthday dinner at the house one night and the kitchen is well kitted out and stocked with all the cooking supplies we needed; perfect to serve the show stopping banquet table! Bedrooms are large and well equipped and the view from upstairs can’t be beat. We will definitely be back. 10/10
The challenge is to locate the hotel , hidden in the winding lanes of Painswick, one of the most beautiful of Cotswold villages. Once inside, the staff and decor are warm and charming. Our bed was comfortable, the bathroom roomy and the shower excellent. Dinner in the restaurant was exceptional — the ‘truffle pudding’ to die for. A good breakfast to see you on your way. Can imagine in a colder month it would make a cosy base for invigorating country walks.
Beautiful little cottage so close to Painswick Main Street (few mins walk).
The owners/staff were very helpful in advance and let us have early check-in whilst cleaning continued due to us attending a wedding and also catered for my dairy intolerance by providing oat milk!
The cottage was very clean, the bed was comfy and the heating was very good - the cottage became lovely and warm pretty quickly
after heating being turned on.
This quaint hotel tucked into the countryside had the most amazing views of the green hillside. The staff was delightful and amenities offered such as afternoon tea in bed made for a relaxing experience. The drinks and food were incredible! We loved the al Capone and Rosemary Collins! The truffle pudding and lamb among other meals here were delicious. Definitely would recommend and would love to return in the future!
Absolutely stunning hotel, gorgeous. The Julius Caesar room, whilst quite small, is amazing and the view from the room simply breathtaking. The grounds and gardens are a delight. We didn't want to leave.
The food was excellent too. The only gripe is that perhaps the evening dinner menu could be a little more extensive but that said the food was top drawer!
Painswick itself is also lovely.
The cottage is perfect! My wife walked in and said, "This is my English country vacation dream come true." Everything was beautiful, incredible views on both sides of the cottage....fantastic location in the Cotswolds. Extremely charming and cozy. We always had parking very close to or directly in front of the entrance. Great experience! Highly recommend!
The location was great for getting to places such as Gloucester, Cheltenham and other locations across the Cotswolds, Forest of Dean etc.
The village is very quiet especially where the guest house is except for the neighbour across the road who sings in the evening.
The breakfasts were lovely
The shower was great
The host was very pleasant
Situated in the Centre of town, easy walking distance to local restaurants and beautiful ancient churchyard. The host was friendly and accommodating. The room light, airy and comfortable. Pretty courtyard between the front and rear buildings. Excellent breakfast…
We would definitely book again should we be travelling to that area…,
Beautiful house very close to the centre of Painswick.
Breakfast was great - plentiful and delicious. Both a fruit salad and an English cooked breakfast are made to order, daily.
Staff are lovely and can make good recommendations regarding what to see and do, locally.
There is a resident dog, too, called Boo, who is lovely.
Painswick is a typical Cotswold village and Croft House is a old stone built property. Martyn, our host was very friendly and welcoming and the continental breakfast was excellent. Our room with an on-suite bathroom, which was an extension to the original property, was spotlessly clean and well appointed.
Excellent breakfast and very welcoming staff with very clear understanding of Covid etc rules. Very comfortable room/bed (as ever why so many pillows?!) with a nice honesty fridge bar. Right in the middle of the lovely town of Painswick with good pub and restaurant.
We arrived at dusk and were shown to our room which was luxurious and very spacious. The property is full of character and old world charm. The bed was really comfortable and breakfast next morning was served in a really pretty room with lots of choice.
It was absolutely beautiful and so was the garden, very dog friendly. it was right in the centre of Painswick, the kitchen had everything you could need. The beds were very comfortable and the log burner a real cosy bonus.
Greg and his partner made us feel very welcome and we’re very generous with their time and help. Their beautiful home was a perfect place to stay and enjoy wonderful Painswick. Greg makes the best scrambled eggs.
Superb location, right in the centre of Painswick. Very clear, detailed and efficient communication from host. Gorgeously presented interior, beds and towels etc.
