submitted byOXO Customer Service - 4 years agoBrand expertA: I would never use a burr grinder for spices, nuts or anything but coffee. The burrs will get clogged with all the oils from the nuts and the bits from the seeds. Stick with a blade grinder for spices.

A: Yes! I just brought mine home today. I use mid-coarse for pour over, but tried the super coarse and it's pefect and uniform. Nice machine!

A: Hi! Thanks for your question. Our Conical Burr Coffee Grinder has a removable upper burr ring that is able to be taken out for cleaning or to be replaced. The lower burr on the grinder should not be removed.

A: Hello! Unfortunately, we do not have a set time frame on how long coffee beans will stay fresh inside of the hopper on our Conical Burr Grinder. There are several factors that can affect the length of freshness for the coffee beans.

Q: Can someone tell me how many seconds I need to grind beans for 12 cups of coffee at setting 9? We drink 12 cups of coffee and I only got six cups out of 20 seconds at setting 8. The settings only go up to 30 seconds.

A: Thanks for your question! The number of seconds needed for 12 cups can depend on several factors including how strong you like your coffee, type of roast, etc. If 20 seconds provided half the amount that you need, we would recommend doubling the amount of time. Since the machine only goes up to 30 seconds, you can one 30 second cycle and one 10 second cycle to get the amount needed. I hope this information is helpful!

A: We currently do not have any OXO kitchen electrics that are compatible with voltages in international markets – the documentation included in the packaging of the product states that the warranty is void if the product is used outside of the US and Canada. We do not recommend using this product outside of the US and Canada, nor do we recommend using the product with any type of converter or adaptor. We also do not recommend using a transformer.

I've had one for a year. (Pour over and espresso. ) Reliable and good grinds. **The problem is the internal chute and static. ** If I put 30g of fine beans into a grinder, I want 30g back. Not 28. 2. Not 29. 1. This machine will tax you of coffee daily, and eventually build up enough grounds inside to start spilling out on your counters. The only reason I still have this thieving thing is that no manufacturer seems to make an electric grinder with a straight drop. I'll be going back to manual grinding and holding out for a better design. Hopper-burrs-container. Motor on side. Coffee tax is high enough without paying the appliance.

This grinder is good while it last, which will be slightly more than one year. I am on my 4th one. All die a little more than a year into use. They just quit. Sometimes you can give it a good cleaning and jump start it again but know that when it happens, it's time to shop for a new one. When it is working it gives a good consistent grind. You set your grind by the timer. It goes to 30 seconds and we like a 40 second portion for a 10 cup (American) pot so we set it on 20 and push twice. It's easy to disassemble and clean and comes with a little brush to do so. I wish these were better made because I love everything about them except the quality of the build. But that seems to be the theme with Oxo. Great while it lasts but nothing lasts.

I wasn't getting the coffee beans to the right coarseness in a $20.00 coffee grinder so I decided to try this one after looking into it and reading reviews on different websites. I use the highest number setting and its perfect for French press coffee making. The flavor and everything about the coffee is improved to the point where we enjoy our coffee because it tastes delicious now. As for the reviews of the metal cup that holds the coffee as it comes out of the mill sliding around it was moving around slightly when I was first using it but then one day and I heard it click in place and has been ever since. This coffee mill (grinder) looks good and works great don't hesitate on buying it it's made our french press coffee 100% better.

The replacement dial looks completely different, but still has the same problem. Aside from that, it works great. That being said, it's a feature that I wanted to be incorporated into the grinder and wished that it worked as expected.

We received a Krups touch coffee grinder as a wedding gift 34 years ago, and it served as our daily grinder for 33 years. When we finally decided to upgrade, we chose this burr grinder based on recommendations that burr grinders offer a superior experience. At first, we were pleased with the design, grind options, and larger capacity compared to our old Krups. However, after just a few months, it has become increasingly inefficient and now requires a thorough cleaning every day. Originally, we could grind 16 tablespoons of coffee beans in less than two 30 second cycles, but now it takes four or even five cycles to get through the same amount. Each time we clean it, an unbelievable amount of coffee buildup comes out, which makes us wonder why a cleaning brush wasn’t included. Perhaps ours is defective, or maybe a higher-end model would perform better—but for the price, we expected better long-term performance. Definitely a disappointing experience after less than a year of use.

I have been using the grinder for several years and I like it very much, easier to use than the ones that require filling every time. However, it jambs all to often and requires removing the innerworks (no easy task) to clean out the jambed beans.

Item grinds great and quiet however, grinder jams after one cycle of coffee beans. The grounds stay stuck in the chute and have to manually clean it out. Did not realize how much stays in there until this happened. I've had cheaper grinders worth $20 that did not have this problem. Online reviewers of this product don't mention this issue at all. Returning this product and staying away from OXO brands.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The OXO Conical Burr Coffee Grinder had its work cut out for it since it would be supplementing my roughly 70-year-old Peugeot coffee grinder. But the OXO holds its own. Sure, I can adjust the grind on the Peugeot, but it's easier on the OXO. And the timer on the grinder works great. The Peugeot is close by in case I want to spend a minute and a half turning the crank in the morning, but I'm really happy that the OXO canister makes it easier to transfer the fresh grounds to the basket in the coffee maker--which, by the way, is the OXO 8-cup coffee maker that we bought at the same time as the grinder. So far, both appliances are working great, and my spouse likes using the grinder, too. (She never did warm up to the Peugeot grinder, sad to say. . . . ) OXO makes seriously good kitchen appliances and gadgets, and the conical burr grinder is yet another example of that.

It is pretty quiet and does a great job grinding consistent grind size. It would be very easy to clean or free a jam if need be. The stainless cup does not conduct static electricity so a lot less mess!
