This is a fantastic keyboard with excellent tactile feedback and great features. I was initally on the fence about using software for a keyboard (Logi+), but I gotta say, they got the UX right, from pairing to customizing the keyboard assignments. This keyboard was easily set up quickly after pairing with the Bolt receiver. My favorite backlighting feature is 'Reaction' where the keyboard is dark and lights up each pressed key. The keyboard feels very high quality throughout and has some heft with it.

Battery life hasn't been an issue. The keyboard comes with a USB-A to USB-C cord for charging. Note, this only charges the keyboard and does not pass keystrokes to the computer. I plug the cord into the keyboard once a week on Monday until around lunch time. No real impact to my desk layout as a result because the cable to connect my cell phone is always plugged into the dock to begin with.

The keys are incredibly responsive and comfortable, making typing a breeze. Whether I’m working for hours or just casually browsing, it feels smooth and effortless.

The build quality is solid, and the keyboard has a nice weight to it, so it doesn’t slide around on my desk. The battery life is amazing, lasting way longer than I expected. Plus, the wireless connection is flawless - no lag, no delays.

Since being relegated to 100% remote work as a programmer, I finally put together a dedicated desk space at home. Unfortunately, my Corsair Strafe mechanical keyboard didn't agree with my new docking station and it was doing downright dangerous things like repeating keystrokes or dropping out altogether. Not a good thing for someone working with live production machines. So I tried the only other keyboard/mouse that I had, which was the entry-level Logitech wireless set. Not terrible for the money, but not really the caliber of keyboard/mouse that you'd want to work on all week.

So I decided to splurge and step up to a premium wireless keyboard and mouse. I chose the Logitech MX Mechanical with linear (red) switches and the Logitech MX Master 3S mouse. Honestly, I wish that I had made this choice a long time ago, because I am deeply in love with both of these items as daily drivers for work.

The keys are so satisfying to type on. They're not clicky (that'd be the blue switches instead) but they have a very pleasant resistance and overall feel to them. It just feels...premium. There are more shortcut keys than I will likely ever take advantage of, but I've already taken a liking to the mic mute, volume controls, and brightness adjustment shortcuts. The size and weight are perfect for my setup. It's a full-size keyboard with 10-key numpad but it's noticeably more compact than my Corsair mechanical keyboards.

Wireless connectivity is a plus, which keeps the desktop uncluttered and allows me to type on my lap if I want to lean back for a while. Bluetooth setup was painless, and it allowed me to connect directly to my laptop instead of using the included USB dongle.

I only have a couple of gripes about it. First is that the function key row is too close to the number key row. There isn't a familiar gap between the two, so it's been tough for me to use the function/media and number keys by feel. And the num lock key isn't immediately identifiable by its icon so I have to hunt for it any time I need to toggle it.

Overall I'm extremely happy with the keyboard, and I'd highly recommend it to anybody looking for an office-worthy piece.

I did a lot of research before buying this keyboard, looking at a lot of other mechanical keyboard, watching sound test videos with different switch types, and ultimately it came down to trusting logitech, good reviews, and the fact that I already had the MX Masters mouse so sharing the logitech bolt receiver is convenient. 2 weeks into using this, I can say that it's a very good keyboard but I'm hesitant to say it's worth $160. Here's the breakdown.

This review is for the blue key 'clicky' switches

      Build quality: 4/5
It's pretty good, I was shocked how heavy it was but that's good, it sits firmly on the desk. Key's have a very slight wobble to them, which loses 1 point on build. It's not a deal breaker and it's not that bad to be honest, but it is there. The key texture is nice, somehow soft feeling - which it's hard plastic but I don't know how else to explain it. The top casing is a blast textured aluminum with a polished chamfered edge that is subtle but striking if you take the time to appreciate it. I wish more of this metal was used in the bottom casing but also you don't look at the bottom of your keyboard so who cares.

      Battery life: 5/5
It really is the best in the biz and even with the backlighting on I'm experiencing great longevity. I don't think anyone else is matching this battery life.
This was delivered on 1/29/2023 and I use it for work (8 hours a day, 5 days a week minimum). Here are the charging updates:
Update 4/11/2023: I just charged it for the first time yesterday and I do have the backlighting on.
Update 6/6/2023: I'm charging this for the second time now. Looks like frequent use can expect to charge this ~4-6 times a year.

Switch feel (blue 'clicky' keys): 4/5
I think I had the wrong expectations here, which I feel silly for since I watched numerous videos demoing the sound. It's a 'clicky' sound. I was imagining that dramatic 'SLAP' sound you hear on a typewriter when the printing arm whacks the paper. Well, this is a keyboard, not a typewriter, and 'clicky' is exactly the sound it makes. Like a mouse click, but a little more. I think I really wanted something more, or maybe deeper. That said, it feels very good and the sound is not bad, just manage your expectations if you're like me. Watch the videos, the sound is pretty accurate. I thought maybe people were just bad at recording or had bad mics and I kept telling myself it would be more dramatic in person. It is not.

      Backlighting: 4/5
There is certainly cooler lighting out there with all the RGB individually addressable key lighting and all that on gaming keyboards, so this falls short compared to that. These keys are addressable (don't know if you can control that yourself, but the presets do utilize some individual key effects) but they are just normal white. This is not something I care about, I'm 33, this is for my office, not my dorm room. The lighting is just fine and the effects are sorta cool but I just leave it in static mode. The smart illumination is really something - it just turns on if your hands are hovering over the keyboard and not even touching. How do they do that? Light sensor maybe? Proximity sensor? There is no visible sensor anywhere so they did a great job concealing it if there is one and the effect is very accurate. One area of improvement that sorta has more to do with overall keyboard design is that there is considerable light bleed out of the bottom, but that is due to the design being open under the key to view the switches rather than the keys being nestled into the top casing. Take this for what you will, I like the open design but maybe they could have isolated the lighting better.

      Connectivity: 5/5
Disclaimer - I only use the bolt receiver and not bluetooth. It is faster than BT, as BT has a max capability of 34ms response time but usually sits between 100-300ms, and bolt is 1ms. Just use the bolt. I know it takes up a port but it's way better.

I think that's about it, I mean it's a keyboard. It's good and functional but it's not life changing. I would probably pay a little over $100 but not $160 for this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best office keyboard to date

This keyboard is pretty amazing. I own a HHKB, and a Pok3r. I build and customize my own keyboards. I bought this mainly because of the Logitech Flow feature. But first, I wanted to talk about the keyboard itself and why I think this is the best office keyboard to date.

The build quality is amazing. It's sturdy, and the internals are very tight, which means, no rattling, no added noise or reverbiation. As a result, this is a very quiet mechanical keyboard (I can only speak for the brown switch version).

The keycaps are made out of recycled plastic, but they don't feel cheap. They are quite smooth and easy to type with. The typing experience is very consistent and smooth (see type test photo). My typing speed is consistent with my other keyboards, but for me, it's definitely feels much better to type with tactile silent switches compared to my other keyboards.

Even though this keyboard is a low profile keyboard, there are flip up feet at the bottom of the keyboard to lift it up a little more to get a better angle if that's what you prefer.

The lights are nice, but what makes this keyboard really stand out is when it doesn't use the lights at all. Without the backlights on, this keyboard can do 10 months on 1 charge, which is completely unheard of for a mechanical full size wireless keyboard. I've had this keyboard for a couple of days on the whole time, and by now, my other wireless 60% would have died and required a recharge.

There is only one issue with this keyboard which is customization. For Macros, only some of the keys (F Keys and Cursor Targeting Group) can be customized vs what I am used to, which is being able to customize every single key. For customizing the physical look itself such as changing the switches or the keycaps, this keyboard cannot be customized like that. The spacebar doesn't use standard stabilizer stem widths. You can replace every key cap except for the spacebar. You also cannot change the switches unless you know some soldering which is not recommended.

As for the reason why I bough the keyboard. I absolutely love it! The logitech flow option allows me to move from my multiple computer setups with only one keyboard and mouse. I often multitask, I have a computer running 24/7 as my "smart tv" as well as my personal laptop, and my work computer. Considering how I can flow through all those computers from one set of mouse and keyboard without having to physically switch the mouse to use that specific computer is absolutely game changing. I feel like I am using one computer, even though they are all completely seperated.

Whenever a product can make someone's life easier, is when you know you have something truly revolutionary. For work and every day use, this is absolutely the best office keyboard to date.

Few things I like about it:
      1. Easy connectivity to switch between devices
      2. Minimalistic Design
      3. Good battery life.
      4. Personally, I like the feel of the clicky switches.

Switches are ultimately a preference choice. Personally, I tried all three of the switches and these are my recommendation

If I were to rank them based on typing feel, it would be Clicky -> Linear -> Tactile Quiet.

Clicky: Best typing feel of them all, can accurately feel that I have pressed the button, noise is a bit loud so make sure to check with people around you before you decide to purchase it.
Linear: Feels like a normal keyboard, instead of a mechanical one. However, it is very smooth and nice to type as well, noise is the smallest.
Tactile Quiet: The weirdest feeling out of them all, this is supposed to be a compromise between the two so maybe that's why it feels weird, it's not mechanical enough that you get that satisfying feel and noise every time you press a key. So sometimes I am not sure if I have pressed it. On the other hand, it is not smooth enough to have a normal keyboard feel.

The Logitech MX Mechanical Wireless Illuminated Performance Keyboard is more than just a mouthful to say. It's a powerful, flexible, and beautifully engineered piece of technology that promises to redefine your typing experience.

Upon unpacking the keyboard, one cannot overlook the attention to detail. The metal construction and minimalistic design make this keyboard not just a peripheral but an elegant addition to your workspace. The solid build feels premium, providing an assurance of durability.

One of the most noticeable features is the illumination of the keys. It's highly customizable with the accompanying software, which lets you adjust the intensity and color to suit your preference or match your workspace aesthetics. The illuminated keys are not just beautiful to look at, but they're practical too, making it effortless to type in dimly lit environments.

As a wireless keyboard, it's impressive how seamlessly it connects to different platforms, including macOS, Windows, Linux, iOS, and Android, thanks to the Bluetooth and USB-C connections. The keyboard provides a solid connection without any perceptible latency - an essential feature for both casual and heavy-duty typists. Moreover, the battery life is commendable, lasting several weeks on a single charge under normal usage conditions.

The standout feature, however, is the linear switches. Compared to traditional mechanical keyboards, the linear switches offer a smooth and consistent keystroke, reducing typing noise while maintaining that satisfying tactile feedback that mechanical keyboard users love. It makes typing more comfortable, reducing strain during long typing sessions.

On the downside, it may take some time to adjust to the key layout. The keyboard is a full-sized one, which may be a bit daunting for those accustomed to compact keyboards. Some may find the lack of a wrist rest disappointing considering the keyboard's price point.

The software, although generally user-friendly, has a bit of a learning curve to fully utilize the customization options. It would be great to see some more intuitive controls and user-guidance for first-time users.

Overall, the Logitech MX Mechanical Wireless Illuminated Performance Keyboard is a masterful blend of aesthetics, comfort, and performance. Despite a couple of minor quibbles, it certainly raises the bar for what one should expect from a mechanical keyboard. If you're looking for a keyboard that offers unrivaled typing experience while enhancing your workspace's look, then it's well worth the investment.

Been using this bad boy for about 4 months. It is top quality and the typing experience is amazing. It is very quiet for a mechanical keyboard, so it is definitely office friendly.

I only use it with the dongle and it is super fast. Never tried bluetooth (I heard people complaining about it but I cannot testify).

The only thing that can be annoying is the layout. The lock key is top right, and when I type a phone number for example, I often hit the lock button instead of "-" so it locks me out of my session and I need to log back in. I heard of people disabling the lock button. I might try that and use Win + L to lock my session!

Also, I heard users complain about the keyboard light closing when inactive, making it hard to use in a dark room. Personally, whenever my hands are close to the keyboard, the light has always been on + the light turn on instantly when you approche your hands and it is turned off. So not an issue I would say.
