Artist bios

Commonly associated with hyperpop but a rap artist through and through, midwxst broke through as a teen in 2020 with "Trying," an alternately high-strung and plaintive single examining his isolation. The melodically inclined MC/singer has further explored a wide range of emotions -- without being averse to boastful irreverence -- across numerous singles and EPs like 2020's Secrets, 2021's SUMMER03, and 2022's better luck next time. His debut full-length album, E3, arrived in 2023.

A native of metropolitan Indianapolis, specifically Carmel, midwxst (born Edgar Nathaniel Sarratt III) got into making music while networking with producers through online platforms such as Roblox and SoundCloud. He landed a licensing deal with major-label Geffen and made his commercial debut with the single "Liar." Throughout the rest of 2020, midwxst issued a slew of singles and the nine-track EP Secrets, and he finished off a busy year with "Trying," his biggest song to that point. He continued in 2021 with the seven-track SUMMER03 and eight-track BACK IN ACTION. The latter was loaded with more aggressive material geared for his live shows, while its 2022 follow-up, better luck next time., was a more varied and versatile affair. In September 2023, he delivered his first full-length studio album, E3, heralded by the single "Tally" with Denzel Curry. ~ Andy Kellman
