Testing it out, it was so loud and the light is so bright that my father, who had a stroke 3 years ago, fell over onto the floor. Don't worry, he's okay, but know this-- it is startling. Wouldn't it be amazing if it had the same effect on bad guys?! Get it for the women you love in your life. For such a small and simple item, there's no reason not to have it. Except maybe the price... but they say some proceeds support women's support groups so that's a positive.

    Update: haven’t heard back from Birdie’s support after contacting 4 days ago, Amazon ended up sending a replacement after I returned the order through them. Disappointing experience with Birdie customer service.

    The Amazon replacement works! Days later, still no word from Birdie. Leaving a star off because of that.

    New item works as advertised, I hope it stands the test of time.
