Great waterproof jacket

I live in an area where it rains on/off every day for months on end, and this has been my go-to for years. Currently on my 2nd pair of Microgravitys. Pocket space is great, and ascentshell is fantastic in high-humidity areas where goretex isn't as breathable as it needs to be

Great All Season jacket

Got this jacket on a warranty claim for a jacket that is no longer around. Which by the way, OR's warranty process is top notch and a main reason I'm so loyal. It is very similar to my old jacket minus the added chest pocket. I'm 5'8" 155-160lbs and the large fit is perfect for my needs. I've layered a thin vest under it so far and will use it in the summer as a rain jacket like the last one. Perfect for every season and will not hesitate to do anything in it. Quality is top notch.

I am so happy with the details of this jacket.

First, thank you OR for making this jacket. It is light weight, but holds up against wind and rain. I appreciate the soft material which is easy to move in without making lots of noise like many waterproof jackets. I like the adjustments, the venting, and how it packs up quite small for the utility of the jacket. I am excited for the adventures to come.

Quite happy at first, but quickly degraded

I bought it mostly for bike commuting in wet and rainy conditions and also for my casual outdoor activities (camping, trekking, etc.). It delivered what I expected from this type and quality of shell for the first few months, but when I took it out this spring, it was not as good anymore. And now, 6 months later, it is unusable under the rain. after less than 1 year of use, it is not protecting me from the rain anymore. It soaks the water and after about 1 hour under the rain, it starts leaking through. I don't know if it is a defective unit, but I was definitely not expecting this so soon.

Returned Jacket

Had to return this jacket, size Large. I am 5'9" and 186 lb. and it felt snug in the body over a t-shirt. The sleeves were a bit too long, and the hood was rather huge. Liked the soft feel of it, the weight, etc. but I need a bit of room to allow for a couple of layers underneath when I'm traveling in cooler weather.

Shedding rain is the least of it.

I have Ben using this jacket for back country skiing. It breaths well enough that I can wear it while skinning up. And windproof and warm enough for long ridge traverses and skiing down. I've never had a shell that i didn't have to take off and put on throughout the day. I often find myself wearing this jacket from trailhead to trailhead.

Super quiet and comfortable, but no under-arm vents?!?!?

I purchased this rain jacket for use in the High Sierra next month. My crew and I had a pre-trip trip to Grayson Highlands last week to test out all of our gear. This jacket was put to use in the first 5 minutes of the hike, ha. I love it - it's super quiet and comfortable, and is the perfect thickness toward blocking wind and cold. However, when we pushed hard I would heat up, and quickly learned that there are no under-arm vents?! What the heck?? For the price, this jacket absolutely should have vents - there is zero excuse for this, O.R. Otherwise, it's a fantastic rain jacket. T
