“…We stayed two nights after travelling from the North and sought some downtime before recommencing activities. The communication was fantastic and hosts were super quick to respond with directions for the ferry. That said the troubles with catching the ferry itself added stress to our trip as this place is not easily accessible. I knew we would be up for an adventure going to this resort but it would have been super problematic if the ferry had cancelled on us (luckily it did not). Remember to budget for parking in Bodø if you have a hire car as well as it’s very expensive. The accomodation was lovely but more aged than I expected from the photos. There was further construction happening around the small resort that I believe impacted the feel e.g wood laying around. For the price point of this stay, I do think it’s overpriced. You are charged an additional 500nok for food supplied. For the price paid, this should be included.…

“…There are places in this world that make for a great vacation, some that impress, some that inspire. And then there are the truly special places that leave their mark, subtly - or dramatically - change you and how you walk through the world. Arctic Hideaway was that for me. No restaurants, no "activities", no walking tours. Just a magical space in a pristine location to just be. The combination of private and communal space struck the right balance of solitude without loneliness. I feel profoundly grateful to have stayed here. Takk, Havar!…

“…It is difficult to describe how beautiful and wild this island is, and yet how welcoming and warm the hideaway is at the same time. I learned so much, met such interesting and friendly people, and felt completely at home even though I have never been in anyplace even remotely like this before. If you have a sense of adventure, an independent spirit, and an interest in forging connections with new friends, you will love it here. Bring warm clothes, comfortable waterproof shoes, some wine, and an open heart. You will not be disappointed.…

“…Like other reviews, I agree that words can’t describe this amazing place. A magical week for three of us. Nature was at your door! The scenery was beyond imagination while you watching waves under the sun with birds singing around you. Our caregiver Natasha was extremely friendly and made us at home immediately. She was not only very considerate but also cooked delicious foods. Also, our stay coincided with a concert house building project. It was an unique experience to see how these architects worked. We also had the opportunity to visit the artist Are Andreassen’s studio and made a family print! Moreover, we had a trio concert at the Saturday Cafe on the island: my 4 years old daughter played violin, the founder and the musicien Håvard played bass clarinet, and I played piano. It was such a beautiful memory! As the cellist Yo-Yo Ma puts it, “Culture – the way we express ourselves and understand each other – can bind us together as one world”. Enjoy!…
