I love the devices. Not just the show but the echo dots as well!!!
I have wanted to slowly transition over to a smart house for many years now. My wife has been very skeptical about making everything smart. In May of 2024 my wife had to go away on a school trip for a week. While she was gone it left me home with our 4 daughters. While she was gone, I thought it would be fun to buy a device. So I purchased not one or two but 3 devices while she was gone. I originally bought the show and 2 echo dots. Got them all installed and all the smart bulbs installed in the house. My girls loved it and couldn’t wait for momma to get home to show her. When she got home she was shown and then I got the stink eye of I can’t believe you did this. Since then she has even purchased another echo dot for in my shop. She loves the feature of being able to tell it play whatever music everywhere and the whole house has the same song going. One thing that I really love is the drop in feature. I am in the military and currently deployed and have my device from the shop here with me 6500 miles from my house and with the drop in feature my wife and kids can just drop in and talk to me when ever I am in my room. The other day our tv went out at the house and the new tv my wife purchased is Alexa enabled so I can now turn on and off the tv from all the way around the world. I love the device and am so glad that we have them. Thank you Alexa.

    This is one of the most undervalued products I have ever owned. I use my Echo Show 5 primarily as a smart alarm clock. Being able to set my alarm by talking to it is so convenient, I also use it to control the bedroom lights and play m e some nice music to sleep to. One day when I was sick and didn't want to get out of bed to retrieve a tablet, I was able to stream my Amazon Video Content on this device. Sure the screen is small, but laying on the bed watching it didn't strain my eyes at all. The sound was awesome, Amazon having put better speakers in this new version (from my gen 1 which is now in the workshop). The adaptive lighting and screen color based on the ambient light in the room is perfect. The Alexa Skills allow me to play games with Alexa, and she keeps me supplied with dad jokes for work. You can customize the types of push alerts the Echo Show 5 gives you, which allows to you greatly reduce the number of ads you see. All in all, the value for the money is amazing, and you will continually find new uses for this excellent little item!

    I use my Echo Show 5 every single day, and it has completely streamlined my routine! From waking me up in the morning with its alarm clock, to giving me the weather update and even letting me know my commute time to work, it keeps me on track. One of my favorite features is how it reminds me of important tasks throughout the day, so I never forget anything. On top of that, it’s become an essential part of my smart home setup—I can easily control my lights, check my security cameras, and even open and close my garage all with simple voice commands. The screen is clear, the speaker is great, and it’s the perfect size for a nightstand or desk.

    Since the Echo Spot in my bathroom was constantly losing the internet connection and had to be restarted, I decided to replace it with the Show 5 on my desk and buy this new version of the Show 5 for my desk.

    Admittedly, I don't use all of the available options since I don't need them. When I watch Prime Video it is on my TV, but you can watch movies on this device if you want to. You can connect with video calling if the people you want to connect to have the Alexa app or an Echo device with a screen. I, personally, don't know anyone that has these things that I would want to connect to. You can control compatible smart devices if you have them. I do use smart devices, but they are not Alexa enabled and are controlled by other apps.

    The most dramatic difference for me is the color contrast and vivid colors of the screen - they are incredible. This version stays connected to the internet more consistently than the previous version and verbal response is much better. Although I have speakers for the older Show 5 I put in my bathroom, this newer version really doesn't need them unless you want booming sound. The base and quality of the sound is a huge improvement.

    Even though I don't use all of the available options for this Show 5, I do love the screen and sound quality, but the other options are available if you want to use them.

That is not the fault of the unit that is strictly on the stand. I will upgrade to a larger screen unit more than likely on this year's Christmas sale pricing for Black Friday the screen size is small but the picture quality is good. I like that you can shut off the camera and the speaker to have a little bit more privacy. It does seem to have a little bit less responsiveness than the echo Dot, however she still does understand you and she does give you the information that you've requested. All in all I think it was a good upgrade and with your trade in at the moment you get 20% off of the item when you trade an item in. I believe you only get that one time so look around and make sure you're buying the right size and model before you click that button.
