Replete with four bedrooms and four bathrooms, this once-in-a-lifetime property boasts a number of the original features, and of course offers extraordinary views across the ocean and back over the island itself.
Eilean Sionnach Lighthouse Cottage is right by the lighthouse, and enjoys a tranquil position close to the sea shore. There is a private garden and patio, and access to the beach itself, which is yours alone for the duration of your stay. Inside, the décor combines timeless coastal features with judicious contemporary details. The kitchen is replete with twenty-first century amenities, meaning you can take advantage of the area’s seafood and game to create incredible meals for the friends or family who you bring with you to this remote slice of paradise. Inside, a wood-burning stove supplies instant cheer, making the sitting room the ideal place to recline with a dram of whisky and a novel after a long day of exploring the coast and the hills.
Whatever the weather and whoever you’re with, a mini-break or longer stay on this private island is bound to be stay with you for the rest of your life. There is nothing like looking out over the roiling or placid seas knowing that you’re on your very own patch of land with your loved ones. The stresses and unease of contemporary urban life simply dissipate as you step onto the island, knowing its yours and yours alone for the duration of your stay.
While the island itself is private, occupied only by you and whoever you bring with you, the region of Isle of Skye is populated by a thriving community. Visitors flock to this stunning area from all over the world, drawn by the unique topography, gorgeous seas and skies, and relaxed way of life.
While the cottage is intensely private, you aren’t cut off from society, with several bars and hotels within walking distance. The closest spots to eat and drink are the Eilean Iarmain Hotel and Am Praban Pub, both found by the pier, and well worth visiting for a pint of local ale and a meal. A little further afield is Kinloch Lodge with its excellent restaurant, and two further hotels, Toravaig and The Duisdale Hotel. That said, most guests find very little reason to leave the immediate area, fishing on the private beach, walking along the rugged coastline, and spending their evenings on the terrace or curled up by the stove with a good book, good friend and good whisky.
