Different assembly - visible plastic screws!SamanthaWhat’s not shown in any of the photos are the plastic screws that are meant to cover the screw holes, on every single shelf. I’ve had several Kallax over the years in different colors and dimensions and this is the first time one has had these. Is is just the white ones? It’s ok if it’s placed vertically since they only show on the bottoms, but if you turn it horizontal these will be unsightly. 1

Simple and effective, not identical to older versions.GraceIf you're like me and have no idea what you're doing with your life, Kallax is a good product line for you. Everything is a cube and you can move the inserts around without much trouble until you figure out a configuration that works for you. It's pretty user friendly even by IKEA standards. I was a bit curious about some other reviews mentioning differences with older KALLAX units though, so I checked, and sure enough my old units are a bit different than my new ones. The "outer frame" of the old ones were about 2 inches (5cm) thick, while the outer frame of the new one is about 1.5 inches (3.75 cm) thick. It doesn't compromise the function but if you're trying to line things up exactly with older models, you'll probably notice.5
NOT the same height as the other KallaxSuzanneI have a 8 square Kallax with records but it’s overflowing so I got a 4 square. It looks so dumb because it’s at least a full inch shorter and they’re side by side. 2

So difficult to installRachelbe aware!! there are 3 little parts/pieces that just don't match the size of the hole on the main board, causing one step of my installation process to take more than 1 hour (thus total installation time is 2 hours+)... I really can't bother to return this item because I have unboxed everything and torn apart the outside delivery box, so it's a pity because the shelf looks great and the size fits my room2
