Great little lamp.
5 out of 5 stars
Great little lamp.
A friend brought a couple of these on a previous camping trip, so I thought I would try them, and was not disappointed. These are very bright on their brightest setting, very compact/packable, and quite durable. The charge lasts a very long time, so much so that I never had to charge it in the sun or with my compact portable battery bank for the three nights of camping. We mostly used this smaller one to hang in our tent on the low setting which was more than enough light in a 3-4 person tent, and used the next size up for walking around in the dark on Catalina Island where there is ZERO lighting, especially if the moon is not out. These can be a bit pricey, but are worth it, especially if you buy them in sets (usual 3-5 at a time) on sale. The fact that they are waterproof and float is a plus, because it made kayaking around Little Harbor bay in the dark a blast!

I can’t say enough good things about this product. Not only does it provide light in the woods, but it provides electricity for charging a cell phone or satellite watch. It is extremely compact and charges with a small solar panel. Depending on your phone you get one charge per but I was able to charge my Garmin watch several times and it always provides hours of light. I had the old version which was solar only that worked really well for years. The added features make this one a must have. Great to give as a gift because it is so easy to use.

The Luci Pro Series Lux plus charging in matte finish is excellent. I like the matte finish because it disperses the light more than the clear finish. The 3 settings are excellent options. The lowest setting in my 3 person tent provides plenty of ambient light at light in the tent. I'm not sure I could easily read by it on the lowest setting. The medium setting provides noticeably more light as well as the high setting. You can hand the light by either end which is very handy. Hanging it from one end and the LEDs are pointed directly down. Hang it from the other end and the LEDs are pointed up. In the tent I typically hang it so the LEDs are pointed up toward the ceiling so the light diffuses more. I haven't measured battery life, but it seems to last a long time as advertised. I like the option of the solar charging though I have not relied on the solar charging. It has been most convenient to plug it into a USB for recharging. Because the battery seems to last so long, I haven't had the need to rely on solar charging yet. I have not needed to use the Luci's ability to charge my cell phone, but that is a nice option and safety net. I've only used it for camping, but I will definitely use it in any power outages at home as it will light up a room much better than a candle or flashlight. It also deflates down to a thin (maybe 1/2 inch thick) disk. It is fairly light as well. The only slightly negative thing I can say is that it could be easier to operate the inflate/deflate valve. You have to squeeze the base of the value to allow air in or out. What I have been doing to inflate it from a flattened state is to pinch the valve at the base (without blowing into it) then pull it out into shape and it automatically inflates, sucking air into it. I get it at least half inflated that way then blow in the rest. Same process in reverse to deflate.

This is a must-have solar and USB chargeable light. It has several light settings and can be used to charge a cell phone. I bought the very first version of this light ages ago. I'm glad to see an upgrade with the added USB port. My original light is still going strong. We bought this as an emergency backup light and to use outside at night. A must have for every household! Giftable!

love this light - so many uses that you can read about. It takes a looong time to charge in sunlight, but in direct sunlight it charges best. The usb charges it fully in about 2- 2.5 hours. It last for sooo long on full charge. I got another for my mom so she can have it for our terrible winters where we lose power for days. Charged even 60 % this thingc can last over 25 hours. Waterproof is a must for me as I also use it to tie on to my kayak for night trips - which is required by law to have a light.

You’ll often hear people say “I almost died” in reference to a myriad of things. However, when I say I almost died camping in Bighorn National Forest a month ago, I really mean it. I spent a night in sub-zero degree temperature without a tent, and survived. Here’s how the MPOWERD Luci Outdoor 2.0 Pro helped me through:

I was trapped in 2 and a half feet of snow, 6000 feet above sea level, in 15 degree weather that was rapidly falling to a low of -5, trying to get back up a large mountain. Exhausted and completely drained of life energy, I was forced to take shelter off the trail. In pitch black darkness, I was able to affix the solar lantern to a tree that was able to alert Search & Rescue to where I was.

The first thing that comes to my mind in terms of the value of this lantern is its brightness. At 150 lumens, it’s very bright. As a matter of fact it was so bright that it honestly looked like a streetlight on the mountain trail I was camping off of. The light, being LED, is white mostly and actually here the 4th light setting (the strobe setting) was very helpful.

Secondly, the capacity of the lantern is impressive. 5 days into my trip I had been using it every night for at least 2-3 hours a night. Since leaving my house, all I did was put it on the cars dashboard a few times and it was good staying on for 4 hours until I was found by Search & Rescue at 2 in the morning. This being the case, the battery capacity is pretty close to what is advertised.

Lastly, I really liked how lightweight and compact this lantern is. A lot of other options out there, that aren’t even solar, are really too bulky and/or too heavy. This lantern fit perfect on the top of my hiking backpack and it was so quick to inflate that it definitely gave me a sense of ease when it got dark out and I needed light.

The main thing I didn’t like about this lantern was the material. The plastic used in its construction is soft, and not meant to last. For example, the top handle on my lantern ripped off within a week even though I was pretty careful with it even in an extreme survival situation. In addition, it developed a rip a some point along my trip, which prevents it from inflating all the way now. Not only this, but after leaving it on the dashboard to charge the lanterns plastic outer coating would start to melt.

The only other thing I can think of is how the charging is slower than I was hoping for. After leaving it out for hours on the car dashboard, it would gain 2 out of 4 of the cubes. The point is here, don’t expect to leave this thing all night and be able to charge it up for extended use the next day.

Overall, I’d say that the MPOWERD Luci Outdoor Pro 2.0 was worth the purchase and I recommend anyone considering it to try it out. In a real emergency situation it helped the relevant authorities find me, sticking through days of use and going through the night in sub-zero degree temperatures. For the low price point, I believe it’s genuinely worth adding to your camping gear.

Charger on this solar lamp does not charge quickly, but it does charge, great for emergencies if you electricity goes during a blackout. The lamp lasts all night. Haven't tested how long it lasts, this lamp did not die on me for 8 hrs of use. During day, you simply leave on your car dash or hang it up towards the sun. Awesome how skinny it gets when you collapse it. This would be great for people who go hiking and want to save room in their bag. You don't need to bring a Kerosene lamp with a few of these. The light is very bright. Happy with this product.

Incluso quiero otra.

5.0 out of 5 stars Camped with it all summer. Love it!
Reviewed in Canada on August 19, 2021
I love this little lantern. I charge it before I go camping, but it keeps shining bright. We’ve camped a total of about 33 days this summer, this lantern has quickly topped my list of favourite camping purchases. It packs up small, is easy to inflate and comes with three light settings. I’m not sure when you would ever use the flashing setting (tent dance party maybe) but the other low, medium, and bright settings are sufficient for your lighting needs. I haven’t used the charging feature, so I can’t speak on that. The only thing I would change is to make the button to turn it on more tactile. It’s basically flush with the base. If the button stuck out a bit more, it would be easier to turn on the light in the dark, without the help of another light. Edited two years later. Lantern is still going strong!

5.0 out of 5 stars A really useful and well designed light
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on September 26, 2022

With the possibility of energy cuts this winter and on seeing a number of video reviews, my wife and I decided to buy one with the intention or buying a second if the first turned out to be as good as the reviews suggest. We weren't disappointed and ordered a second so that we have one each and can move about our home independently in the event of a blackout.

Usage revealed only one shortcoming, i.e. the two pressurebuttons are almost impossible to locate in the dark. The fitting of a sticky backed inexpensive clear soft plastic 10mm dome over each button provided our solution, we can easily locate and press the buttons in the dark now and the icons on each button can be viewed through the clear dome. I use mine as a bedside light and simply recharge it from sunlight through a south facing window or by using mains power via the supplied USB lead.

As a footnote: expanding the light is a matter of separating parts of the side wall that have stuck together in compression when packed. A little tedious but better than trying to inflate it by mouth which, in my opinion, is a bad idea because it introduces moisture from breath that will be very difficult to remove. Just a little breath when it is opened and the side wall becomes taut. In spite of this, it's a five-star product.

I have bought 2 of these and I love both of them. I will tell you what you want to know first: after 3 hours wall charging I have had 52 hours of light in the low setting and the light will not dim, when the battery does not have enough power will simply shutdown. I didn't make the test in the high setting or how much time it will charge in the full sun, but 52 hours of decent light puts this Luci Pro Series Solar Light in the top of the best longest-lasting solar lights for the outdoor lovers.
