A desert oasis bordering Saguaro National Park

Our small inn, lovingly nicknamed the Posada, is situated on 38 acres of land with a forest of Saguaro cactus, canyon pool, hot springs style hot tub, cactus garden, walking trails, and an abundance of wildlife. This is a space to reflect, reset, and create and is available for individual nightly stays as well as full buyouts for friend & family gatherings, retreats, and micro-weddings.

Kim

"I had high expectations for the JTH Posada, based on the photos and other reviews. It seems hard to believe that those expectations could be surpassed but they were. Book a room and if you can, book the whole place. The serenity this space provided my group is hard to put in words. Dare I say it was almost a spiritual experience?"

Gideon

"When one stays here, you can't help but feel inspired to do something great with your life - to chase a dream as these hoteliers have evidently done."

Kristin

"When you first see the inn, it’s as if the angels start singing. This place is gorgeous and there is so much to see and explore on the grounds. I was like a kid in a candy store, running from room to room, discovering new spaces as I turned each corner."

Brooke

"Life changing. Those are the 1st words that come to mind. ... One thing I really loved was the presence of community in this space (if you wanted it). There was plenty of space to either connect w/others or be alone together. We did a bit of both and that was so refreshing. ... You'll leave this place feeling so much peace and calm."

Danny

"We loved our stay at JTH Tucson! The attention to detail in regards to design and functionality was everything we could have wanted. As far as the property, the lengths they have gone to make the space both incredibly communal but also private pending on your desired level of interaction is something much appreciated."

Autumn

"JTH Tucson has been on my radar for years due to the incredible design + curated seasonal playlists. No amount of scrolling through photos or listings could have prepared me for how delightful, thoughtful, and cozy the Posada would be. We spent our days by the pool, watching wildlife on the property (we saw coyotes, mule deer, jackrabbits, badgers and many birds!), reading in both the public and private spaces, taking in the monsoon sunsets, and cat-napping on every cozy surface."

Danielle

"Courtney is a gem! — a warm, attentive, and knowledgable host. With the inn, Rich and Sara have created a special place where nature, rugged adventure, and casual luxury combine. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay."

Frequently asked questions

Family owned, this small inn is difficult to describe and may be unlike other “hotel”, “inn”, “lodge” or “Airbnb” experiences you’ve been to previously. After self check-in the choice is yours: reset in the sounds of nature at the on-site pool, hot tub, walking trails, yoga room etc and/or meet other travelers from five other private suites in any of the 5,000+ sq ft of communal areas. Your private suite is designed to feel like home upon check-in, and to further that concept you’ll find that this is not a place with a “front desk” or a laminated binder of rules upon arrival. The unique nature of a stay here offers a private and immersive experience, while having an on-site manager available for any questions you may have during your stay. We are so grateful to welcome guests for a relaxed experience among nature here in the Sonoran desert, a place our small team of three also calls home.

We're located bordering Saguaro National Park West in Tucson, Arizona.

We provide a light in-room breakfast which includes local teas, coffee, almond milk, and gluten-free nut based granola; and we highly recommend picking up groceries for other meals to bring to the inn to fully take advantage of the remote setting, chef's kitchen, and charcoal grill. We also provide private chef contacts as well as other vendor recommendations for added experiences after booking.

Yes! We have connections with many local vendors which we share with our guests in advance of your stay. Please keep in mind, these are add-on experiences and are pending the availability of each vendor.

Yes! The pool is private to all guests staying at the Posada. If you’ve rented out the full inn as a buyout, it will be completely private to you. The canyon pool is solar heated to lengthen the season, and you’ll find May through September are ideal months for comfortable pool temperatures. The canyon pool is located in the back courtyard of the inn.

It’s a hot spring style hot tub, created by the original owner and builder who also did groundbreaking rock work at the nearby Desert Museum. In the winter months it’s heated to around 100 degrees, and in the summer months it’s in the mid 90’s as a warm pool. The hot spring is located in the front garden of the inn and is also available for the use of all overnight guests.

Yes! We provide one fire log per room for use indoor fireplaces (fire logs emit 50% less smoke, 85% less carbon monoxide, and 70% less particulate matter than firewood making them a generally more enjoyable and environmentally friendly option for our guests sensitive to smoke). You are also welcome to use your fire log in any of the communal fireplaces (located in the main living room or kitchen). We also have an outdoor communal fire pit located next to the canyon pool. Wood and fire starters are provided there for guests for self service. If you need some help, please let us know!

No, it is not. While we use environmentally friendly cleaning sprays that are scent free, our floor cleaners contain essential oils. We also use incense, in-room diffusers, and candles on site. Scent is a purposeful addition here at the inn.

Unfortunately we’re not equipped for day visits without an overnight stay.

Unfortunately as a very small team we’re unable to offer tours, but truly the best way to experience the inn is during a stay.

We imagine most guests will want to stay on site at the inn to experience the pool, hot spring, labyrinth, on-site trails, wildlife, cactus garden, rooftop patios, and starry night sky. Though, if you’re up for more adventures we’d definitely recommend heading to Saguaro National Park, the Desert Museum (also less than 10 mins away), and take a gorgeous drive through Gates Pass on the way to the city of Tucson itself. The city is filled with charming indie shops and amazing food (Tucson is the only city in the US classified as a UNESCO city of gastronomy).

The closest airport is Tucson International Airport (TUS). Airports that fly non-stop to Tucson include but are not limited to: Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Jose, San Diego, Phoenix, Las Vegas, Seattle and more.

We’re located in West Tucson, about a 30 min drive from the gem show and downtown. The inn property borders Saguaro National Park West. Many trailheads in the national park are just a few minute drive from The JTH Tucson.

With advanced notice, the inn can be booked as a whole. Please send an email to tucson@thejoshuatreehouse.com if you’d like to book the whole space along with the purpose of your stay (family gathering, elopement, retreat etc) and we can provide pricing.

Yes, we'd love to host you for your special day! Please inquire for more details.

We work with incredible private chefs who can be booked in advance via our Guest Experiences page for private meals at the inn. We also recommend bringing groceries on site for your stay. Each room comes equipped with a refrigerator of its own, and some rooms have their own full kitchens. We also have a full chef’s kitchen on site for all guests to use, as well as a charcoal grill on the property to cook outside (please bring charcoal with you if you plan to use it). We’re also happy to recommend local restaurants in the area if you’d rather go out to eat!

As much as we love pets, the inn is not pet friendly in an effort to conserve the quiet experience of a stay here. However, properly documented service animals are welcome.

Families of up to 4 are welcome to book our family suite, Ocotillo.

Weddings

Our inn in Tucson is the perfect spot for an intimate desert wedding with a full buyout of the space, or a 2 person elopement with the rental of a single room. We'd love to host you for your special day!

Tucson, Arizona

Located in the southeastern region of the Sonoran Desert of Arizona, Tucson is known for its Saguaro cacti, and being a UNESCO designated city of Gastronomy. The city itself is a dark sky city, and is surrounded by the east and west sides of Saguaro National Park making both city and nature easily accessible.

Upon entering the city of Tucson, you’ll be greeted by a creative energy and many independently owned businesses. Some of our favorite places to check out in the city are the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum, MSA Annex, The Coronet, Tito & Pep, Bata, San Xavier Mission, Penca, Falora, Midtown Mercantile, and the Loft Cinema.
