Invite Miffy—or Miffy’s Lion friend—into your children’s room with this adorable rug in the shape of Miffy or Lion’s head. It’s hand-tufted in India from the softest New Zealand wool, creating a plush and cozy place for your little ones. It’s made in three different pile heights to emphasize the details of the iconic bunny or lion, based on the famous illustrations of Dutch storybook illustrator Dick Bruna. The Miffy & Friends Wool Rug for Kids is made from 80% New Zealand wool and 20% cotton (rug’s backing). For ages 3+.

The rug is backed with 100% cotton and certified with the GoodWeave label. This means that, to the best assurance, no child, forced or bonded labor was involved in the production of this rug. The manufacturer of the Miffy & Friends Wool Rug will donate a portion of proceeds to support programs that educate children and improve working conditions for adults in producer communities.

Dick Bruna
Dick Bruna

Celebrated Dutch artist Dick Bruna (1927–2017) was best-known for the over 120 children’s books he authored and illustrated. The most famous character who appeared in many of the books was Miffy, a small bunny drawn with heavy graphic lines, simple shapes and primary colors. The inspiration for Miffy came during a family holiday in 1955, when Bruna spotted a bunny hopping around and later, began drawing it. (The name Miffy is “Nijntje” in Dutch—a word a child in the Netherlands might use as the diminutive for “konijntje,” or “little rabbit.”) Miffy debuted in storybook form that same year, with the publication of Nijntje, followed by Miffy at the Zoo. 32 subsequent books featuring Miffy were published up until 2018.
