- Reviewed in the United States on December 13, 2021As with all mics, it takes a little bit to learn about its little quirks and such that come along with the hardware. The Bass switch is a nice addition as I have quite a deep voice, and helps prevent that low hum when speaking. I do a lot of audiobooks, so it's nice to know I have a mic to rely on. I do also have the Triton Fethead attached to the Mic to help with phantom power, and it is a lifesaver. Money definitely well spent on everything. Additionally to bass/baritone ranges, it does really well with higher pitches as well. It doesn't have much of a fall-off distance when changing your distance between your mouth and the mic, which is a nice feature. You don't have to worry about too much variation in the gain of the mic or the overall sound quality with this mic. I would definitely buy again.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 16, 2024I'm a full-time recording artist and singer/songwriter. I have used many microphones over the years and recently switched to the RE20 after I did a blind, side-by-side quality test on more than twenty different mics. The RE20 came out on top against a whole bunch of high-quality mics. If you want really great quality vocals, give it a try. Highly recommended.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 28, 2021Amazing and crisp audio. I bought this for an interview I had coming up. I wanted the best of the best. I’m not sure if this microphone singlehandedly impressed the interviewer, but this undoubtedly inspired confidence in me. The audio is impressively clear, no buzzes or hums. The fidelity is impressive. I normally use this for streaming, short recordings discord calls and zoom interviews. You do need to be very close to the mic, but I love that the microphone doesn’t get too loud and it’s very clear and intimate.
I can’t get enough of it. Highly recommend for the audio enthusiast!

- Reviewed in the United States on July 19, 2023Oh, yes, I know there's much love out there for the SM7B. Some people even prefer the MD421. But if you're looking for a broadcast-style mic with plenty of side and rear rejection, which still allows you room to move around, and has as close to a flat response curve as you will ever find on a dynamic microphone, the RE20 is what you want. Easy to EQ to your liking, and great SPL handling. Tough to pop plosives into when you position it properly, as well. There's a reason you'll find it in radio stations the world over. It can take anything and everything you throw at it.
The included boom and mount are fantastic as well. The boom is a little stiff out of the box, but don't try to loosen it up, just let it loosen itself and it'll be just fine. The tension in the springs is just right for the mount and the mic. The boom I used to have in its place never would have held them. The mount itself is pretty much just a knock-off of EV's own mount, and works just as well. There's nothing weak or poorly-made about it. I expect to get years of use out of this setup.
If you want an RE20 and you've got $500 ready to go, stop reading and just buy this package already. You won't regret it.

- Reviewed in the United States on August 22, 2023The EV-RE20 was created back in 1968, which is 55 years ago (2023). The dynamic rage is very good. It is not just a Radio announcer's microphone, but it is also used for singers too. To this day, it is still known for a feature called variable D which is great which is able to keep the vocals consistant. I've used this microphone since 1998. The EV-RE20 has remained that same as far as the technology and construction of the microphone.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 10, 2023This mic system is sold as a kit consisting of the "EV RE20" mic, the "Auray SSM-BC10" Shock Mount, and the "Auray BAI-2X" Articulating Broadcast Arm. The EV RE20 is an amazing sounding microphone; but the Auray SSM-BC10 shock mount was broken when I unboxed it, and the Auray BAI-2X Two-Section Broadcast Arm broke as it was being installed.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 23, 2020Very satisfied with the quality of the microphone itself. The boom arm I received is a Samson MBA38, rather than the auray model shown in the picture. I noticed this same arm in the picture of another recent review, so they may have changed the included arm without updating the listing. This boom arm does not include an integrated XLR cable, not an issue in my case, as other reviews claim it was low quality anyways, but definitely worth noting that despite the description stating "Two-Section Broadcast Arm with Internal Springs and Integrated XLR Cable" You may still need to purchase a separate XLR cable.
