Comporta is just a short hop south of Lisbon. Any route will start by crossing the River Tagus on one of Lisbon’s two iconic bridges. South of the river, industrial suburbs give way to rolling planes and spreading woodlands of pine and cork oaks. As you get closer to Comporta, you’ll also see the paddy fields. Here are two ways of getting there:

  • From the airport, head for the Ponte Vasco da Gama (bridge over the Tagus) and then follow the A12 motorway. Join the A2 heading south (Algarve) for approximately 100km. Leave at exit 9 (Grândola / Sines) and join the IC33 for around 9km, and then take the exit for Comporta/Troia. Turn left onto the N261-1 and drive until Muda crossing. There turn right to Bicas and you will find Spatia Comporta after 3 km.

Total distance: 128km, approximately 01h15min drive

  • From Lisbon, cross the Ponte 25 de Abril (bridge over the Tagus) and head south on the A2. Take exit 5 and join the A12 for Setúbal. At the traffic lights near the Jumbo supermarket, carry straight on towards the port and ferry terminal. Take the Troia ferry across the River Sado to the Troia Peninsula. Look out for the dolphins! Continue for another 12km on the N253-1 until Muda crossing. There turn right to Bicas and you will find Spatia Comporta after 3 km.

Total distance: 87km, driving time depends on the ferry
