"An inspiring yet relatable read for anyone ready to stop settling." —Nina Ruggiero, Travel + Leisure

In this inspiring travel memoir—the antidote to the “just quit your job and ditch all your belongings to backpack the world” mentality—a young woman explores how she took calculated risks to follow her dreams: traveling and living abroad without sacrificing stability and comfort.

Like many young professionals, Helene settled into a steady 9-5, watching the clock tick by and dreaming of seeing the world one day. But after a climbing accident leaves her bedbound for months, she finds a new voice connecting with others online and starts a blog to write about her true passion: travel. When her blog takes off and a sponsored trip overseas opens her eyes, she wonders: could she lead a stable life while traveling the world?

From skinny dipping in the icy Baltic and hiking Germany’s storied Black Forest, to wrestling with visa applications and apartment hunting in medieval Heidelberg, Helene shares the realities—both the magical and the mundane—that come with chasing bold dreams and learning that home is where you make it. For those who fear change, the secret lies in taking calculated risks.

Uplifting yet candid, this travel memoir will inspire others to take chances and transform their own lives. But you don’t have to uproot your life to find meaning—just have the heart to take a leap.

Review

"Helene's story is an important reminder that we don't have to settle, and our dreams are within reach if we're willing to go for them."
—Anna Kloots, New York Times Best-Selling Author of Live Your Life and My Own Magic

“It's rare that a book can provide both escapism and motivation, but that's exactly what Sula's memoir provided for me. Helene is proof you can have an adventurer's soul and also find stability too."
—Taylor Wolfe, author of Birdie & Harlow

“Helene brings the same genuine energy from her lovable blog to her memoir, weaving her backstory with her trademark voice, equally witty and heartfelt. She takes us along on her global adventures—and misadventures!—not just as a sidekick but as a true travelmate, reminding us all to live in the moment—even if we always feel like we’re caught in between.”
—Rachel Chang, travel and pop culture journalist

"Helene Sula is proof it’s possible to think with both your head and your heart—and that you can change direction without losing yourself. An inspiring yet relatable read that speaks to both the dreamers and the planners, and above all, anyone ready to stop settling for the status quo."
—Nina Ruggiero, Travel + Leisure

“Millennial-meets-world in this memoir of persistent planning to live the life you desire.”
Kirkus Reviews

“Author Helene Sula’s memoir is well-written and enticing as she shares secrets about how she made her dream of living abroad come true. This story isn’t about throwing caution to the wind and just leaping blindly into the abyss, but one of taking smart calculated steps to succeed with patience and tenacity.”
—Readers' Favorite

"
Two O’Clock on a Tuesday at Trevi Fountain leaves readers with a sense of inspiration and hope. It’s a reminder that while the road to happiness may be long and winding, it’s always worth the journey."

A beautifully written love letter to honesty, adventure, and courage. Helene's prose perfectly captures the emotions and the experience of traveling and uprooting parts of your life to make your dreams come true. Learning that there is no "conventional" life and embracing the choices she and Michael have made to experience the world on their own terms is inspiring and validating. Thank you for sharing a story that is honest and for showcasing your humor throughout. Prost!

This is such a feel-good book. I could not put it down. It is so relatable, even though I'm 62. If you want concrete travel-for-work tips, that's not really what this is. It's more of a memoir. But it IS inspiring, it makes you feel everything and anything is possible, and it's downright funny and endearing. I definitely got ideas of places I want to go. But mostly it's a very realistic, heartfelt book that makes you love the author and her husband (and even their dogs!) and want to get out there and enjoy life- whether for you that means travel or something else. I was so sorry to seer this book end and I hope Helene goes on to write more books!

I’ve been following Helene for some time now. I love her stories and how she tells them. So when she announced she had a book coming out, I knew I had to get it. It didn’t disappoint except I wanted more. I don’t really like to read and was done with her book in less than 3 evenings. I didn’t want to put it down. How she went from her regular job to becoming an influencer and moving abroad was just inspiring. Her imagery pulls you in makes you want to experience, the sights, smells and sounds of the moment. There’s a very touching moment in the story that really tugged at my heart, but I’m also a sap. Thank you Helene, for sharing your story!
    I definitely recommend.

Social media can be an absolute dumpster fire, it can be unrealistic, toxic and depressing. AND it can also introduce you to really cool people and you can make amazing connections with people all over the world that you wouldn't have any other reason to interact with. Helene Sula is one of those really cool people. Since my current life situation doesn't allow for much (ANY, let's tell the truth here!) travel, I love seeing the world through other's eyes. Helene is funny, real and living a dang cool life, but isn't afraid to tell the realities of living abroad as well.
If you like to read or travel or just want to "meet" a cool person, read her book!!
This is a quick read, but still so good.

THIS BOOK IS FILLED with dreams, aspirations, doubts, difficulties, plans and satisfied fulfillment. I pre-ordered this book after hearing about it and tore into it as soon as it arrived. I LOVE IT! A total page turner, written in descriptive prose that colors your mind’s eye to BE THERE. This is a fun autobiographical story of a young woman’s dreams and how she made them come true. It is about living abroad (which I would 💜 too) but it could be about any life goal. This is a must read for any young person who is in the brink of “adulting” and has doubts about what their life could be. Helene covers it all. What she tells you is simple: follow your heart, make a plan, work hard, skate over the bumps and revel in your joyous results. This is a book I needed in my 20’s when I abandoned college not knowing why I was there. I still LOVE IT because it’s a beautiful story and I’m happy for Helene and Michael proving that Disney was correct - dreams do come true. Can’t wait for her next book!

Really great read by Helene whom I followed on Instagram first and knew of her move abroad. It was nice to read about other parts of the move that were not necessarily on SM.
The book is not only about travels, and various experiences Helene had had, but also about change, finding your calling and following your dream without quitting your 9-5 from day to day. What I really liked about her writing (and something I haven’t seen in a while) a vivid descriptive language that really portrays the place / atmosphere she describes.

I've been following Helene on Instagram for a while and was fascinated to read her and Michael's story. It certainly didn't disappoint. Having spent time in Germany and Austria I found her descriptions on point and very relatable. I spent two thoroughly enjoyable evenings devouring this book and loved every minute of it. My only dissatisfaction is that I read it too quickly and wish there was a follow up book by Helene detailing how she decided to settle in Oxford, for me to read next.
A brilliant book!!! Everyone needs to read this.

I was really interested to receive this book and to hear the perspective of the writer, with lots of travel stories and two accomplished parents who are both writers this should have been great.
This book lacked depth in storytelling and a cohesive narrative which was a shame. It was very surface level in its musings and at times the writer came across as privileged, at times self-absorbed and was quite critical. I was bored quite quickly and was ready to abandon it but I stuck with it. I hope it doesn’t deter her from another book, and that next time round the approach is different. I did cheekily return the book to Amazon which I’ve never done before. It just wasn’t a keeper…
