I’m mainly using my Kindle Scribe to keep an old fashioned diary. I can’t really call it a journal, I just like to jot down things about my day. It helps me to do a “dump” or a “purge”, and helps me to not keep thinking about things that maybe I just need to let go. I was at an appointment today, jotting in my diary on my Scribe while waiting for my appointment, and I think I may have sold about three of the staffers in the office on the idea of having one. One person was talking about taking notes for school classes and being able to read Kindle books. Another said she was putting it on her gift wish list. I told them to get the premium pen, so they’d have the eraser function and the programmable button function, both of which I use quite a bit. I like that I can change page types (lined, graph, music, calendar, checklist, etc.) within the same document, even though I pretty much just use the medium ruled template for my diary. But I’ve played with having multiple template types in the same document, and it’s easy peasy! When you go to change template type, you can set it for the entire document, or just for the new pages, and you can keep changing templates for added pages as you go along.

Great addition to the paper tablet market. If Amazon adds some features in the coming months, the KindleScribe could take the lead.
It syncs constantly and new PDFs and books are instantly available. I love the ease in adding to my library.
I very much like the oversized post it notes that can be add when reading a book, but shrink to keep a clean book page, although I wish I had a choice to write directly on a book page as I can a pdf. I like that I can type and hand write my notes. But also wish that my handwritten notes synced like my typewritten notes, to other devices, such as when I open the book on my laptop. I do like that I can collect all my notes and highlights in a list. Great for teaching. As a professor all my notes travel with me. This is a great tool for educators and professors.
I like that my audible books are accessible too.
I do wish it could “project” to my laptop like the competitor R2, this is an underrated feature that is great for educators. I would like a better pencil too that mimics the characteristics of a pencil better. I think layers would also make it a stronger competitor. Access to my files on a Google drive or other. And add an interactive daily planner. R2 has one that is transformative, created by a developer. But you have a project planner, so create/get a daily calendar planner. That add on was the clincher for me.But make it a reasonable price point.
I do like the ability to have controllable lighting as needed, very nice.
I love the custom cover/case. I got the burgundy one. Glad the pen came with it and that it is magnetic and can be secured with the loop on the case. Love those features.
I love that I can zoom in on my PDFs, not a feature on the R2. And my handwriting shrinks or grows accordingly in real time, staying proportional.
Not sure how it handles other ebooks that are not kindle, but the R2 doesn’t handle kindle books, much to my chagrin; I had a kindle library for decades.
Overall, even though I bought the R2 just 5 months ago, I was upset with myself because I was not aware of the KindleScribe. I think I would’ve gotten the Scribe first because it is great in many ways. But since I got the R2 first, I want to suggest to Amazon to upgrade some features then you can takeover this market: layers, projection, other ebooks, write directly on the pages of a book, handwritten notes in books travel with it to other devices, a keyboard perhaps. KEEP your unique good features and add these feature, plus do some marketing to increase awareness, then you got this. I would love to only need on device. So, please take heed.
The price point for it and the bundle is perfect. Smart to sell it with the pen. With the R2, I thought a separate pen was shameful, felt they were nickel and diming us, plus they charge for storage of files smh. Love the scribe.
Overall, a game changer. Love it and bragging on it to folks. I rarely write reviews. Best wishes on the success of this product.

My daughter recommended this is an alternative to pen & paper to take notes. Advantage: you can hand write notes Save them email them from his own proprietary email, as a PDF attachment, and then print them or save them to a file on your computer point depending on your handwriting, they may or may not translate well. I have terrible handwriting, so conversion to text does not work well for me. But that’s fine because if I attempted to scan a piece of paper and convert it to text, it would be the same thing. Battery life is forever. I ordered the high-end pen, and it works like a charm. Resting your hand on the tablet while you’re writing does not affect the handwriting at all. In other words, your hand on the tablet does not leave any imprint. lightweight, easy to fit in a briefcase or another portfolio for meetings. No delay in response of stylus on pad. Advantage is you can send the document you were just written to anyone at the meeting or yourself for distribution instantly.
Disadvantages: as far as I can see, while it sinks to a cloud, there doesn’t seem to be a readily available back up that you can independently retrieve. So if it’s something important, I recommend that you export it to a PDF to save to your computer. There is no external port in which to export documents. Finding your way around the menu or to different parts of the device, takes some learning and some experience. Like everything else, there’s a learning curve. It is not an iPad. It creates folders and notebooks, which seem to be counterintuitive, but once you understand the difference, or have somebody explain it to you, it works well. It goes to sleep when you close the cover, but does not turn off so it uses a little power, but it does not seem to be a big power, drain.

So far I like it a lot, I got it on sale from Amazon, with the 64K option, advanced stylus, extra tips, but I don’t know why, extended warranty, and leather case on sale point device locks in firmly into the leather case and there is a pencil loop for the stylus. It also attaches to the side of the Kindle scribe magnetically if you don’t want to use the pencil holder at the bottom. I would recommend it if you want to try something different from pen and paper.
