I know Cowes well because my mother in law lived there so...

I know Cowes well because my mother in law lived there so for many years I regularly visited her and stayed in the town. Since she died I have not visited as often and hadn't been to the Isle of Wight for two years until I stayed this autumn. It was a quick visit, but the shops in Cowes and the waterfront areas and town beaches are always interesting. I wouldn't stay quite as late in the year again as many places shut at the end of October or by early November, and if they're not shut completely they can be quiet and shut early (eg some of the out of town shops). Even the Cowes shops were beginning to wind down about 4pm on the Saturday and there weren't many people about. So do go but the warmer months and early autumn are probably better as there's more going on and there are more options. We ate at Mojac's and the Pier Inn, both excellent places for evening meals. The Pier Inn is also a pub but has a separate dining area. It was nice to go in pubs and for them not to be crowded but they do shut bang on 11pm.

Easy access to Osborne House in East Cowes.

Easy access to Osborne House in East Cowes. Really worth a visit! The island is very small and so one can drive round it and see lots each day.. Everywhere on the island is less than 35 minutes from Cowes (in October). Lots of good restaurants in Cowes.

We love the Isle of Wight.

We love the Isle of Wight. Beautiful island and I feel so safe there. We ate at The Coast which we thoroughly recommend. Tremendous atmosphere. When we didn't use our car we used a local taxi who were brilliant and never let us down.

We enjoyed our visit although as it was the Isle of Wight...

We enjoyed our visit although as it was the Isle of Wight Festival during our visit traffic queues and road closures were in abundance. We spent a lovely day at the Big Cat sanctuary which was fairly empty making it a good opportunity to see the cats and talk to the keepers who are all so knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Great visit. There are lots of shopping facilities, great views and lovely little hamlets and places to visit around the island. The park we stayed in was peaceful but had easy access to Cowes and to the ferry port. Friendly people and we enjoyed great weather.

We were visiting family and attending a wedding, the resort is very busy and cheerful with lovely bats, restaurants and shops and boutiques. The waterfront is very picturesque and attracts visitors of all ages. There isnt to much to do for children that i saw, but maybe thats something to look into.

We arrived on the RedJet ferry.

We arrived on the RedJet ferry. Friends gave us a lift to the B & B, but we could have walked there. Lots of nice independent shops, friendly shopkeepers. There is an ice cream hut at the beach, Cabin on the Green. We mostly walked along the esplanade to the High Street, although we also went in the opposite direction to Gurnard. The Westvale gets the sun on its patio most of the day and great for watching the sunset. We ate in The Globe, The Pier View, and The Gardens. There is a maritime museum in the library and one of the bookshops has lots of maps for walking trails. There is a floating Bridge that takes you to East Cowes. There is a bus stop at M & S food hall, but we didn't use it. Friends took us about in their car to go further afield.

Although the room is a little dated, with woodchip on the wall (🎶) it is exceptionally clean. Everything you need is there. There are plenty of hand sanitizers dotted about the property. I had actually walked around the island and stayed at various B&B's and campsites. Of all the places I stayed at, Watch House Barn was the best night's sleep I had. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. For the price as well, I would happily stay there again.

We booked the Fat Badger Chalet for a one night stay and it was fantastic. Melissa and Jonathan were so lovely and friendly (and their dogs Magnus and Coco). The chalet was really clean and comfortable with en-suite bathroom, really good value and so close to Cowes town centre, a short 5 minute walk through a park. Breakfast on our own terrace was delicious and freshly cooked. We would highly recommend staying here and hope to come again soon!

Staff are great and couldn't be more helpful. Breakfast was superb and the bar area had live music and a friendly atmosphere. The downtown location makes this just perfect for a trip to Cowes and the hotel is very affordable. The rooms were clean and tidy, but could do with a refresh, just hope if they do that they don't go to upmarket and price the hotel too high, I will definitely stay here again when in Cowes.

The property is very clean and spacious. The decor is beautifully done. It is in a brilliant location for Cowes centre. You could easily cook yourself, but there are plenty of take aways/ restaurants in town. Host was very easy to contact and very helpful. The manual has clear instructions and information for anything you can think of!

It was quick to book in with a passcode and order breakfast as it was all done online. Fresh fruit and greek yoghurt was the best in the morning just a sample of what breakfast I had. The room was very clean and comfortable. Bathroom was very clean too. Definitely recommend this guest house to anyone staying at Isle of Wight.

We have stayed before and once again the staff were exceptional as was our suite. Breakfast overlooking the Solent was perfect and the hotel is extremely pet friendly. Many of the other guests obviously agree as they have also stayed before.

The Villa Rothsay is in a wonderful old house with a strongly nautical theme - a very pleasing decor. Margaret is an outstanding hostess and nothing seemed too much trouble for her or her team. The breakfast is an absolute treat
