This is the best backpack I’ve ever had! Not only does it fit more than it appears at first glance but the multiple access options are what put it over the top
I’ve tried out probably five different new bags in the last month, and with this bag from Hex, I’ve finally found one that’s perfect. I bought and returned bags like the McKinnon everyday pack, the PGYTech Onemo, and a bag from Wandrd. Those bags seem like their priority isn’t packing camera gear and they were all so heavy on their own that it was a burden once the bag was loaded. The back loader from Hex though? It’s perfection. I went from these ridiculous $400 bags that were unable to fit all my gear to this bag, which can fit all my gear with room to spare. The awesome people at Hex really designed this bag to maximize storage and protection but kept the weight low. The laptop compartment is a stroke of genius in its location. All the little extra pouches and zipper pockets are an absolute must when toting gear around with you. You need to access little things quickly all the time and Hex gives you so many of these areas in the best possible places. If I had to gripe about one thing, I’d maybe want to see the camera compartment be one inch deeper in the next iteration. It works great as is, but I could see it becoming a problem if you have part of a rig on your camera. I have a cage on my A7IV and it just fits the space with how I store it. If I added anything to add a small amount of height to the body, it wouldn’t fit and I’d have to break down my rig further each time to store it. Not the biggest of deals, but a minor gripe to note. That doesn’t take away from the perfection of this bag though. Hex, thank you for doing an awesome job! P.S. I wouldn’t mind a luggage pass through next time either!
If would've been 2" deeper it would be a 5*. My a9 with a grip sticks out the top of it so I have to take my gorilla eye cup off, it still sticks out, but at least the eye cup is not getting squished. It is slightly better turned on its side, but still sticks out leaving a bulge in your back.
