I am not one to be drawn towards brands simply because they are a brand I recognize, I much prefer to critique products on a case-by-case basis. However King Arthur is one of the few brands I feel I can trust with quality products.

One of my favorite things is malted vanilla ice cream milkshakes. Unfortunately it’s impossible for me to find malted vanilla ice cream, so adding my own malt is the next best option, and this made my milkshakes taste absolutely perfect. The flavor is complex and amplifies the flavors of the milk and cream. I also add it to the eggs in my french toast which makes for a great meal any time of the day.

Truth is the Carnation tasted the most like what I remember malt flavor to be. I try not to support companies like Nestle though. CTL adds sucrose which I don't like when things are added by a factory. I wanted to like the King Arthur best, thinking that spending more would pay off, but I can't taste the difference and the cost is insanely high. So Hoosier gets my vote for good value and no weird ingredients. Just need to blend it well.

I did a blind taste test with a mixture of almond milk, half n half and chocolate syrup. I am just a dude, not a professional taste tester - someone with a more refined palatte could maybe detect nuances that I could not.
